My two starting forwards are Tatum and Giannis, quite comfortably. Embiid obviously center.
Replacement frontcourt: Butler, Banchero, Bam. Potential wildcards: Wagner, Turner.
Barnes is great, but Toronto's record will be a problem for him.

Yes, someone leads in other categories but 50+ percent of what people vote for is just points.

Barnes is great but he’s not close to Tatum lol

Giannis is a top 3 player supermstar at the peak of his powers
Tatum is a established star
I dont see the argument for the other guys over them

If you can't see, put glasses then!
"ESPN currently doesn’t have Tatum making the All-Star starting five. Instead, he’s seen as a reserve, with his spot being filled by Scottie Barnes of the Toronto Raptors."

Make the argument because im willing to listen to the facts. The all star game is a popularity contest so it's likely the bigger star names will get in. So are we saying Barnes season is more deserving of a starting position then Tatum's season and what is it about Barnes nunber that makes him more deserving. For example, if Barnes had the same usage as Tatum is it evdent that Barnes new numbers are better than Tatum's.

Taking espn data seriously is hilarious
They aren’t comparable players

Tatum's numbers are slightly down from the previous 2 seasons and Barnes seems to have made a very significant leap this season after kind of stagnating in his sophomore campaign.
EPM has these 5 players like this at the moment:
1. Giannis Antetokounmpo +7.2
2. Scottie Barnes +4.6
3. Jayson Tatum +3.5
4. Jimmy Butler +2.4
5. Julius Randle +2.2
Before we start to crown Barnes as a better player than Tatum, there will need to be some impressive post-season showings but purely looking at this season I'd probably take Barnes so far. It's kind of a similar situation as Embiid vs Giannis and Jokic. I think Embiid really needs to prove himself in the play-offs before seriously being considered for best player in the league but when only looking at the 23/24 regular season, he's the frontrunner.

There is nothing wrong with saying "Barnes has been a better regular season player, statistically, than Tatum".

points aren't everything but 27ppg is a lot more than 20. you gotta put that ball in the bucket.

7ppg is not so much considering that this season Tatum has 100 more FG attempts than Barnes.

You can use the same statement for any thread here...
Anyway... Tatum is a star, no doubt... But this season Barnes definitely deserves more respect than Tatum!

Scottie barnes has a net rtg of -1.7 on a team that is 11-16 lol. Let’s be serious here
Like I’m sorry but no one should care about half a rebound lol, and putting the effeciency data like that is just misleading without adding TS%, the all encompassing one, where Tatum is better.
Tatum is averaging 6 more points on half a rebound less, has worse defensive numbers but his raw net def rtg is better in that regard, pretty sure his LEBRON defense is much higher and that uses impact a bit better than EPM does at least on that end of the floor
Like idk man throwing out basic box score data isn’t gonna move anyone especially when it’s not following what you say. Averaging +6 points and 1 less rebound and assist in better effeciency isn’t something glowing assessment on barnes.
It’s also just logically speaking they aren’t remotely the same caliber of player. Tatum is a top 10 guy that’s in too 5 convos if he can become more consistent in the playoffs, barnes isn’t a top 25 player
And in any case even if he was slightly more impactful as EPM says, in the context of, Tatum is on probably the best team in the nba that’s stacked with their starting 5 whilst barnes is on a non-playoff team, that doesn’t move anyone lol
Any argument for barnes isn’t about how good barnes is, it would be at best how much less Tatum is trying lol. he’s a 20ppg scorer with league average effeciency and what I assume is good defense, they aren’t the same caliber of player.

^ Barnes probably is a top 25 player this year but otherwise I agree.
