Who would win a best of 7, the 2017 Warriors or the 2011 Mavs with all players in their prime and 2017 RC as Mavs coach?

All-Prime 2017 Warriors
Steph Curry / Shaun Livingston
Klay Thompson / Ian Clark / Patrick McCaw
Kevin Durant / Andre Iguodala
Draymond Green / David West
Zaza Pachulia / JaVale McGee / Damian Jones

All-Prime 2011 Mavs
Jason Kidd / JJ Barea
DeShawn Stevenson / Jason Terry
Shawn Marion / Caron Butler / Corey Brewer
Dirk Nowitzki / Peja Stojakovic / Brian Cardinal
Tyson Chandler / Brendan Haywood

This is actually an interesting question, given how many good players the 2011 Mavs had that weren’t actually in their prime at the time. That said, I’d still go with the 2017 Warriors. The biggest difference for an all-prime 2011 Mavs would be having prime Kidd instead of old Kidd. But I’m just not that high on Kidd in general (due primarily to his lack of scoring ability/efficiency), so that doesn’t move the needle for me as much as it might for others.

interestingly Warriors don't get much better. Not only stacked but also disgustingly synchronized.
Mavs stand no chance

2017 Warriors win comfortably since they are better on both ends of the floor. The Mavs do have one more All Star level player but the 7th man on either teams isn't going to bring that big of a difference and the Warriors more than make up for it with 3 of the 4 best peaks anyway.

More interesting question is 2017 Warriors vs 2016 Spurs all in their prime

I'd be rooting for the mavs but still don't think you can top the duo of curry + durant with those supporting players all in their prime.

5 more Allstar players, right? Kidd, Juice, Matrix, Peja, and Haywood. Not sure how you calculated one.

Edit. My bad, you mean one more than the Warriors not one more than the real life Mavs. Which is super obvious lol.

Obviously the Warriors are a paper favorite because all the key guys were in their prime IRL so we know it works. Mavs require way more guess work. Gotta take the known elite team here.

But in theory that Mavs team is stacked. And so deep allowing for very aggressive defense and playing super fast.

This is something that’s always so noticeable whenever these types of hypotheticals pop up—the 2017 Warriors AS IS were as good as other hypothetical “prime/peak” versions of other teams.

I think that in general when you get super-talented sides playing each other with not many discernible weaknesses but with a plethora of strengths as is the case in these hypotheticals, the games are pretty much 50-50 toss ups. With that said, this hypothetical with the Mavs has an impact monster Kidd but that same peak version of Kidd isn’t a shooter, which would put this Mavs team at a big disadvantage against the 2017 Warriors.

I'd have KEvon Looney there instead of Jones, who is barely an NBA player.
