Knowing what KD is capable of and having a taste of Wemby.

Wenban?
Wemby is his nickname.
Anyways, I'd still pick KD, because of my worry with Wemby's potential injury risks.
Wemby has a higher ceiling(he has GOAT potential IMO), but who knows how it'll play out.

Wembanyama. But I can see an argument for Durant, because of his level of greatness and being able to breathe easy knowing that his career won't be ruined by injuries.
If it's just based off of their rookie seasons, then Wembanyama easily.

Durant's 3s jumped from his rookie season 29% to the 2nd season 42%. He changed from a chucker at 20ppg to efficient shooter at 25ppg. Let's see if Wemby can achieve something similar. His defense is already so good.

This is easy if both were rookies. Wemby, no question.
GOAT defensive potential AND offensive potential. Durant didn't have anything remotely close to high potential on defense.

Potential to getting there is a big difference. We know Durant actually became one of the GOAT offensive players - efficient, unguardable, and full range.

And I and many others in the poll are saying that seeing how Durant’s career has played out, we think it’s smarter money to gamble on Wemby’s top-5 ATG GOAT potential given his offensive and defensive prowess and potential.

Durant only because he’s a proven commodity. Sustained excellence and ability to carry a team. Slots into any concept, needs no major adjustment. I’d rather have that and cut my losses with Wemby living up to his potential. This is like getting Hakeem instead of Jordan

You can’t be the GM that passed on Wemby. He has shown enough already IMO.

Would you say the same thing about Wemby vs someone like Bird?

That goes both ways, though. We already know that Durant can't really be kept happy and that he's a serious flight risk for the team that drafts him. This has to be a consideration here.

Floor for Durant is a top 25 NBA player of all time. Is the median outcome for Wemby top 25 all time? Probably not

Durant is arguable because as mentioned taking a top 20ish talent as a Lock is a very hard thing to overlook.
It takes a generational talent to persuade me to pick against that.
Turns out Wemby is exactly that and so far has been an ATG Rookie, arguably the best Rookie of the last 30+ years.
Pretty hard not to take a risk of that.

Is his rookie season better than Chet, Luka, or Blake Griffin's? Of course Chet and Blake were actually 2nd year and older

Very different at the same ages.

Is Victor as likely as Durant to switch teams regardless of their competitiveness? It feels like most people only focus on the ATG ranking and not the draft aspect of the OP. As the team that drafts Durant, you can only realistically plan on having him for 9 seasons.

Do you have the same standard if LeBron is in a poll?

Yes. Look past the box score and realise he is doing it all in 28 mins a game and actually see his impact.

like how Spurs, OKC, Mavs, Clippers are/were winning or improving from previous season?
