Peak only, which trio would you rather have?

I think the Curry/Kawhi/Draymond one is a better mix. It strikes me as better defensively (in part because I think there’s a pretty significant difference between Curry and Dame defensively), and I think the skill sets on offense mesh together better.

That said, if we take injury chance into account, then I would swap my vote, since there’d be a good chance Kawhi doesn’t play and obviously Dame/LeBron/Davis is better than just Curry and Draymond.

Lillard makes this really easy. When the heat is on, and the playoffs are going, Lillard isn't even all-star level. He has multiple series of being a complete negative.

Hard to go against peak Lebron.

He was never the 3rd best player on his team, though. The attention LeBron and AD would get can change things for him.

The team with Lebron.

“Peak” Kawhi is an even more nebulous idea than peak Davis. If Kawhi’s health is fully guaranteed then I might lean that team, but if we could fully guarantee Kawhi’s health then he would basically be the perfect three-level scoring wing.

As always, there is an element of team construction to this too. I think in the modern league you probably do want three scoring options; if we gave each team clones of a shooting guard and a 4/5, it makes a significant difference whether we are talking about defensive specialists like Myles Turner and Danny Green versus volume scorers like Deandre Ayton and Bradley Beal.

I would have said the LeBron team if it was, say, Durant (on Steph's team), but Kawhi guarding LeBron James makes the difference for me.

I don't think they are playing each other in this hypothetical. You are choosing a better trio to have but I don't think it matters since if either trio is healthy there's around a 99.8% chance they win a title.

Ah. I was envisioning a scenario where both trios would be in the same league. As you said, the question would be kind of pointless otherwise.
