Haslem Finally Reveals Who Won 1v1 Lebron vs Wade Practice

Post#1 » by ccameron » Thu Mar 7, 2024 6:33 pm

I had heard a lot of former Heat teammates talk about this this famous 1v1 practice game between Lebron and Wade a lot, how it was the greatest basketball with no cameras to see it, but despite this nobody ever said who won. As far as I know this is the first time anybody says who won, Haslem says it was Wade. Never seen anybody say it before so I thought this was buzzworthy but don't see anyone talking about it. It starts at the 28:36 mark in The OG podcast:

CONTEXT: They are talking about greatest teammates and they all agree it's Lebron and that Lebron and MJ are the GOAT, which I agree with, so this topic isn't intended to hate on Lebron or say Wade > Lebron, and obviously a practice game doesn't mean much overall. Just thought it was noteworthy since I had heard a lot about this famous 1-on-1 game where they went at each other, Spoelstra and other teammates have talked about it before but it looked like nobody was going to say what happened. Seemed noteworthy that someone finally revealed it.

Lebron is my GOAT by a wide margin, his only weaknesses really are

- inconsistent pullup 3 point shooting year to year
- he needs a ballscreen to cook sometimes in the halfcourt

Maybe in the context 1 on 1 you don’t approach that like you do 5 on 5 though, different rules and all that, when he goes IDGAF mode he does great!

Haberstroh said Beasley used to routinely beat Bron in practice 1v1 so not surprising...........Bron isnt a 1v1 player

The thing that makes me laugh whenever I see a thread on 2 great players playing 1 on 1 and who won is how people will assume that it automatically means one guy is better. It's like if 2 top 10 guys play tennis and one wins does that mean the one guy would win every time? No, if they play 10 times one of the guys probably wins like 5-7 times. Same as who would win between MJ and Kobe, ya I think MJ would win more often but if they played 20 times Kobe is going to win some of those times because that's the nature of sports.

MMA is a sport and world champion and #2 ranked Daniel Cormier got stomped out multiple times by Jon Jones. If they fought 10 more times the result is likely the same.

I get that. I'm not saying that can't happen when you match up top guys but the story isn't that Wade stomped LeBron from what I heard. It's the idea that one guy winning means he would win every time which most likely wouldn't happen. I used to play 1 on 1 a lot and its very easy for either guy to win based on whose shot is falling.

Yea this lol, one game sample is borderline meaningless. But Lebron, specifically by what I understand to be NBA 1on1 rules, is not close to the best, but the game is 5v5.

Ya, also worth noting that Miami LeBron had put on 10-15lb to play the 4. He wasn't as quick/nimble as he was before that which is gonna hurt trying to guard a 2.

IF nba players thought like this we would have the 1 vs 1 tourney by now
players are aware it would affect their reputation
