Superb offensive team with a very good playmaker (Hali) and versatile offensive bigs (Siakam and Turner). They are also supplemented by other very good passers (Nembhard, McConnell).

Which team they remind you most of?

Maybe 7SOL Suns.. Nash with versatile offensive bigs. Diaw also a very good passer.

Not a good sign that none of those teams won a ring.

Also the PGs of the 80s for Denver were not great playmakers (Kenny Higgs, Billy McKinney, Rob Williams, Fat Lever, Michael Adams). Lever was a great rebounder and good defender, Adams was an early 3 point bomber, the rest were barely rotation level.

Lever was a playmaker. He wasn't Magic but ran that team quite well. Certainly wasn't English passing and racking up the assists.

Those Doug Moe and Doug Moe influenced teams ran a ball movement offense based on the Globetrotter weave. Very non-heliocentric style. Lever was one of my all time favorite players and was an above average playmaker but not great as a PG. Of course, in his 4 prime years, he was actually the 2 next to Michael Adams for part of the time and as a 2, he was an excellent playmaker. And, he was a strong defender, a great rebounder for his size, and a decent scorer as well.

I meant more their fast paced style and constant movement, not really to pick similar players within the rosters.

Relative to league average this club is way, way worse than those Suns. My guess is this team is a club like the hawks who are having a fluke CF run and will recede into the background after

Eh, I like Pascal a bit better than anyone on the Hawks and prefer the coaching staff. Indiana has made some savvy moves [Acquiring Nesmith for next to nothing, trading for Pascal, Turner extension, drafting Nembhard]. On the contrary, the Bruce Brown signing didn't really work, who knows how good Walker will be while Mathurin doesn't strike me as a high-ceiling prospect.

They could fade like the Hawks, but I have their history of moves being stronger and more importantly leave a stronger impression on me regarding their competence to acquire players who fit their style and compliment Haliburton [Turner, Siakam and Nesmith all defensively positive players who play off-ball well].

Sorry, OP was "Superb offensive team with a very good playmaker" which was not the Nuggets for most of the 80s. You are correct that they were one of the better movement teams with good passing wings and often stretch 4's and 5's.

1997 Phoenix Suns, post-Kidd trade

The Trae Young Hawks, as far as their chances. Both only made it to the ECF due to injuries.

Ph fair point. I misunderstood ya. And I definitely see the 06 squad as a good, modern parallel stylistically.

Yea to be honest. The 7SOL Suns were ahead of their time. Pushing pace, shooting so many threes, playing a super heliocentric offense around a single playmaker. They inspired lots of modern teams like Harden's Rockets, Lebron 2nd Stint Cavs and these Pacers.

Probably one of the Nash teams. I haven't watched their games based on being faster and more offense maybe the mid 80s Pistons when Isiah was averaging 14apg.
