I've been thinking about star players who will ultimately end up being forgotten by history.. and these two came to mind.

Both great players, who definitely function better in the 2nd/3rd option role.

We know Caron played in a slower era with less spacing and less threes and more focus on mid-range/post play.

While Middleton was competing during the 3 point/space era.

So who was the better 2nd/3rd option in their respective eras?

Middleton by a lot. Middleton won a title as a second option and is more efficient in terms of ts+ in the rs and also has 7 playoffs series above 23ppg as a 2nd/3rd option while Butler did almost nothing in the playoffs.

Butler was a better passer but Middleton a better scorer. I think you have to give credit to the guy who was part of contending teams.

I see the similarities, but Middleton is the more polished version
