Would have liked to see 2008 KG on that team but he was done with the Olympics. The different makeup of these respective teams puts into stark relief just how much the league has changed. Makes it even more wild that James is starting on both teams 16 years apart.

'24 has been pretty mid in the exhibition games so far, obviously the competition is different but it's still a little concerning. They really lack top end talent compared to the 08 team, so I'll take the 2008 team until proven otherwise.

The 2024 team is the oldest USA team ever assembled and it’s not even close. More than half of their roster is over 30. Lebron is 39, Curry 36, Durant 35, Holiday 34, AD 31, Embiid 30 and White 30. Larry Bird was the previous oldest player ever at 35 and Team 2024 has three guys older than him

For comparison, the Dream Team had Jordan (29), Barkley (29), Ewing (29), Mullin (29), Malone (29), Pippen (27) and David Robinson (27). Stockton turned 30 in March of ‘92 and Drexler turned 30 in June of ‘92. People wanna act like the world has caught up because Team 2024 beat South Sudan and Germany by a combined total of 5 points but the real issue is that Team 2024 are ancient fossils.

No, the world has caught up. The 1992 Dream Team [not like this has any relevance in this thread, but you for some reason couldn't resist bring up a team 32 years ago?] played against 5 NBA Players in all of the 1992 Olympics.
So yeah, regardless of how good the older players on Team USA are [and they are very good], the fact is the gap between them and the Redeem Team [Or Dream Team] is significantly smaller than say the 1992 Germany Team vs 2024 Germany Team.

Lol, those ancient fossils were the best players in those games. It is the young ones who have yet to show anything.

I like the 12 Team the most
Love/ Chandler/ Davis
James/ Anthony
KD/ Iggy/ Harden
Kobe/ Westbrook
Paul/ Williams
Tons of 3 point shooting. Athleticism and Defense with the key players closest to their primes as well as skewing on the young side.
Bron and KD just met in the Finals. Kobe was still first team All-NBA as was CP3.
Love just came off a season averaging 26-13 All-NBA 2nd team. 6th in MVP voting. The closing lineup is 5 of the top 6 MVP vote getters in 2012.

The DT played against 5 NBA players? That’s such a misnomer. Most foreign born NBA caliber players didn’t play in the NBA back then for a number of reasons; their country didn’t allow it (Soviet block countries) or they already played in pro Euro leagues and didn’t want to play overseas etc etc. The DT played against 5 players who actually played in the NBA but there were scores of players they played against who were NBA caliber players but didn’t play in the NBA for the reasons I listed above. Guys like Oscar Schmidt for example. On the other hand, Team 2024 isn’t playing against 61 active NBA players. They’re playing against 61 guys who’ve played at least one game in the NBA. The majority of these guys were bench riders or G League type players. The 5 vs 61 number I’m seeing is way more nuanced than casuals would lead you to believe.
