Wemby has loads of potential which is eminently visible. 20yo Luka was one of the best offensive players in the league, though, and his offensive impact was larger than Wemby's on D, I think.

I don’t think any rational person thought Wemby was going to be as good as Luka as fast as Luka got good. And yet it says a lot that you still waited until after the game to take this shot at him

Not really. I wanted to make this thread a long time. Wemby got labelled 'Best Prospect of All-Time', 'Generational' etc.

But somehow nowhere near Luka when he was at his age. But he has a load of untapped potential. I give it to him.

Pretty easily Luka just because his understanding and skill package was already so high to go with the size to dominate at his position. Wemby probably won't be clearly better than Luka at the same age until 24 or 25 but even then will need to back it up in the playoffs because Luka had some great playoff series early on.

Weird underselling Wemby vibes early this year.

Luka was clearly the better player. Pointing out Wemby isn't as good as the best 2nd year player since Tim Duncan isn't underselling a guy who isn't good offensively really at all.

We can all see what he can be, and what he's close to already being defensively. But its okay not to anoint every player immediately. We never learn though. This board called AD GOAT midway through his 2nd year. He's never even been close to being the best player in any year much less of all time.

If Wemby is what you think, we'll know soon enough. But he absolutely should have to do it first.

The best prospect of all-time, or generational prospect [Luka was a generational prospect to some scouts, fyi], isn't necessarily the best prospect of all-time at every age of their life.

Wemby's age 20 year was last year, and I don't believe he has done anything comparable to what Luka did in his respective age 20 season. Now if you are looking for any and everything they have done at age 20, Basketball Reference be damned, I still think it has to be Luka until we see more from Wemby.

Luka being so good in the PS at a young age against a team that was designed to slow him down with their elite defensive wings, just further adds to my confidence. Overall, Luka being both a clear-cut top 3-5 scorer AND playmaker puts him ahead of Wemby was just a top 3-5 defender who was a below average efficiency scorer who still hasn't learn to most efficiently create for himself.

Wembayana's birthday is 4tb of January, Doncic's birthday is 28th of February. Bbref uses an arbitrary and ridiculous cutoff of 1st of February. Meaning that Doncic will get the age he started the season with and Wembayana the age he ends the season with. And posters fall for it every time in this sort of topics.

Luka and Victor both started their rookie season 19 years old and ended it 20 years old. Their rookie season is the only fair comparison, and it's Wembayana easily.

20 year old Luka put up a 43/17/13 game against the Kawhi/PG Clippers in the Playoffs. This is most definitely him.
