Re: Better career as of today: Embiid or AD?
Embiid has a career 31.4 vorp(which I don't always use in comparisons but when comparing players of similar position and defensive value I think it can be useful)
4x 60+ gp, 2x 50+, 59 ps g
Top 2 in mvp voting 3x, top 4 in dpoy 2x
AD has a career 53.1 vorp
8x seasons of 60+ gp, 2x 50+, 60 ps g and 1 title as co#1
high of 3rd in mvp voting, top 4 in dpoy 4x
At this point AD has had something resembling a full career and I think is cemented in the top 40-50 range at age 31 while still going strong. Embiid is 30 and has yet to have a real standout playoff run. His rep as a playoff decliner and bad intangibles guy is kind of established now. So everything points to Embiid being way behind AD career wise I would say. AD will go down as an all time great while Embiid is more of a what if in the mold of Dwight(unless things change in the next 3-4 years).

I mean AD is a year older than Joel and has played in over 300 more games so far. Its fair to say that AD has been hurt a lot but Embiid has 2 entire seasons of dnp and 2 more under 40gp. AD also avgs 2.5 more mpg over his career.

I thought it would have been closer - Embiid had four seasons (3 if you think #4 injured too much) that were better than AD's best season.

Davis has 3 playoff runs better than Embiid's best, maybe that counts for something?

There's not such a big hole between them, but AD I see like 10 spots higher, so it's still quite a clear choice

Re: Better career as of today: Embiid or AD?
Embiid has an argument for the most overrated player of all time.
Heck Harden has had some form of success against a GOAT level team twice over. Even though it was a lost series
Glad the poll is as lopsided as it should be. You do know AD has clocked 750 games and there's a good chance Embiid won't get to the that.
There's holes in his game that hasn't changed. Sadly I don't think it will ever.
Firstly it's the stamina and durability. I have a strong suspicion there's a noticeable drop between 1st and 2nd halves in playoff settings.
That's not getting into halting the offense to a standstill. Very jumpy against teams that hard doubles or shades him. Just on passing strength about Keem but its the indesicion along with tunnel vision, he does black hole an offense at the worst time possible.
It becomes inneffective in the end it's not a good look when it's 46.9% FG to go along with 4 turnovers by today's standards.
Won't even discussion the mopey attitude during games throughout a season which happens every year bar the Rookie one. Like clockwork
Said 3 years ago anyone thinking Embiid led offense gets you anywhere it will lead to peril
Personally it sucks. Thought he would be more like Ewing (who had his own offensive struggles) in that he would be looked at as an ATG defensive center but that's a dream.
Someone mentioned briefly just recently which gave me a horrible thought. Embiid is just not capable of delivering a 4 in a row playoff series especially if its tough. I thought about it and he's right
It's just a lot of hopeful, I have his jersey I wish he was a lot closer to what I think he should be but at the end of the day it is what it is.

As I see it:
Davis was better in college
Davis is better in the playoffs
Davis is better on contenders
Davis is better in the Olympics
Davis is better at everything in the game other than scoring
Davis has lesser (though still major) injury concerns
Davis has a better attitude

If AD is street clothes, then Embiid is a solar eclipse. Man's taking a game off cause the altitude is too high

Might be time for Embiid to learn from AD and team up with an older superstar who can take him to the promise land...

Re: Better career as of today: Embiid or AD?
I know plus minus isn't a great indicator for one game but he earnt every bit of that +31 and then some.
Last playoffs I wasn't overly impressed (half by design and half by play).
I immensely dislike the fact they went away from their calling card. KCP/Rondo/Caruso/Howard was a disgusting defensive backbone to support
They aren't a great shooting team anyway
No secret to me AD is at he's best when he plays closer to the rim on both ends of the court (same with Giannis fwiw).
But yeah if AD can function more properly like this he's a goddamn monster damn near best player in comp imo. He destroyed this game (Just sucks there's a bigger wizard huduhduh Euro final boss that they don't have an answer for).
