I think this is revisionist. I don't think it actually mattered if russ averaged a triple double once he hit that jumper vs denver and I'm pretty sure by impact statistically westbrook was like 3rd after Lebron and Steph anyway. I also don't think Westbrook's rebounds were necessarily more inflated than Harden's assists that year

Well this never happened. Are you conflating 2018 with 2017? Unless you just ignore playmaking (which was hyper-effecient) Westbrook was still awesome in the playoffs.
Agree Kawhi was better but that shouldn't have any bearing on MVP anyway.
