Voted 'Close to that but not yet'
Good not great player for 7 seasons
Enough team accomplishment to be memorable
Think he just needs a bit more longevity and he'll be there.

That's the option I voted for as well. He'll be a lock if the Pacers end up winning the Finals, if they don't he'll still have a bit more to prove but I think he'll end up being a HOFer when it's all said and done. No disrespect to him, but if a perennial 6th man/role player like Michael Cooper is in then Siakam definitely should be as well.

Re: Pascal Siakam = HOFer?
Indy wins this title and a few more years at what we would expect from him and yeah he should be a lock.

If the Pacers win the Finals, he will definitely be a HOFer, and would be knocking on the door of the top 100.

When I was ranking everyone's careers from 2015 to 2023 using a composite of advanced stats, Siakam came in 53rd. He's basically been floating in that Sub All-Star range for 7 years now which is a good amount of value, but not really enough to be a hall of famer

If the Pacers win the Finals this year though, then Siakam would’ve been the 2nd best player on two title teams (2nd best on the 2019 Raptors is arguable with Lowry but at least 3rd). That sort of thing makes a massive difference in terms of the hall of fame. Like, I bet if we had a composite of advanced stats, Joe Dumars wouldn’t look incredible either, but he was easily a hall of famer.

It does. FWIW, BBall Reference's hall of fame moniter (which is a simple formula that does take into account championships) has Siakam with a 2-3% chance of making the hall of fame currently (Dumars was at 75.60%). Obviously that will jump if the Pacers win a chip.

I said Close - ask me again after the finals.

I think the significant thing to me though is that I do now see him back on the HOF track with the revelation he's been adapting to the Pacers.

Is Lamarcus Aldridge or Amare Stoudemire?
Now that's the difference between first and last place.

Re: Pascal Siakam = HOFer?
On his way no doubt. Well-rounded and does everything. Points rebounds assists. Great defender. Was key in 2019 and has been as good as Tyrsese for alot of this playoff.run.
He’s vanquished
2019 Bucks 60 wins
2019 Warriors Two-time champions
2025 Cleveland, 63 wins
2025 Knicks, beat the 61 win champions
And is half way to beating the 2025 Thunder, 68 win juggernaut
Longevity the only obstacle and he’s got plenty in the tank.

Re: Pascal Siakam = HOFer?
When people talk about the top players, I never hear anyone mention Siakam. Even with more time, without a signature season or finals, he strikes me as more Joe Johnson or Cedric Maxwell than a HOF player at this career arc.

Cedric Maxwell never made an all-star game or all-NBA team, while Siakam has made 3 all-star games, an all-NBA second team, and all-NBA third team, and finished 10th in MVP voting one year. And, if the Pacers won the title this year, I think it’s pretty likely that he’d add to those totals some in the next few years, as a post-championship glow helps with individual accolades. He’s definitely not regarded as a top-tier player in the league, but I do think he’s seen more highly than Cedric Maxwell was. Joe Johnson is a closer fit in terms of how highly they’re seen, but of course Joe Johnson never won titles. If Joe Johnson had won two titles as a major piece of the teams, then I think he’d probably be a fairly easy hall of famer.
In a sense, if Siakam gets a title this year, then he’d be kind of an amalgamation of the best parts of Joe Johnson and Cedric Maxwell’s cases for greatness: Joe Johnson’s accolades and standing in the league, along with Cedric Maxwell’s team success. It’s not exactly some overwhelming blend of truly top-tier greatness, but the bar for the hall of fame isn’t crazy high.

Maxwell got the Finals MVP; if Siakam gets that, then that's the signature performance he needs to move up that extra notch in voters' minds. I also think it is getting harder to make the HOF as the pool of eligibles continues to grow.

Re: Pascal Siakam = HOFer?
If Pacers win this Siakam is gonna have to be put in convos w/ Goat 2nd options ever. Perhaps 2nd option wasnt as clear w/ Lowry in 19 but Kawhi and Siakam that playoff run combined for tying Mj and Scotties highest combined playoff points in a playoff run and were only behind 12 Bron and Wade Iirc

Re: Pascal Siakam = HOFer?
I think he's close but not there yet.
That said, here's something I'd love to see discussed:
If Siakam is a consensus, "close but not there yet", where does that put Derrick Rose's odds at the HoF?

Rose will only get in if voters effectively codify the norm that NBA MVPs make the Hall of Fame. He really didn’t do anywhere enough across his career to warrant inclusion.

Pretty sure that will be the outcome. He's a popular guy who ended up working himself into a serviceable veteran post-injury and everything, and then there's that MVP. The bar for NBA entrants into the Hall isn't untouchably high, even without an MVP.
