2015 Clippers if CP3 healthy…

Post#1 » by Hook_Em » Tue Jul 22, 2025 6:28 am

Oh look another injury what if thread. Humor me.

The 2015 Clips were 2nd in net rating. They beat the defending champ Spurs in 7 in R1. Blake was a legit superstar averaging 24/13 AND 7+ assists with 2.8 stocks. CP3 hit the GW but got hurt and wasn’t the same. They infamously gag vs Houston and that’s pretty much it for that Clipper era.

So, if CP3 doesn’t get hurt/compromised is there a legit chance the Clippers make the finals that year?

On paper at least, they would be slight favorites against the Rockets and big underdogs to the Warriors. Maybe 55% chance vs HOU and 25% chance vs GSW. Clippers and Warriors were evenly matched teams in 2014 and then the Warriors made a quantum leap forward.

So I'd say there's about a 14% chance the Clippers with a healthy CP3 make the Finals. I'll say they're a 60% favorite vs the injured Cavs so about an 8% chance they win the title.

The Clippers would lose like every game to the Warriors after 2014 (It was like 1-10 vs the Warriors from 15-17). They wouldn't just lose, they'd get embarrassed most times. The Warriors were on a mission to humiliate them every game, as payback for the 2014 series that Mark Jackson blew. It would have been a sweep probably. It was a notable story at the time in fact, how the Warriors were just humiliating the Clippers in these games.

No, pretender team with not enough defense or depth hence Paul getting injured after getting rode into the ground, plus by game 6 and 7 his production doesn't look that affected.

I was just thinking about how I was in the nosebleeds for Game 3 at Oracle that series. This dumbass Mark Jackson handed the game away at the end...
