Higher Peak: Jimmy Butler or Jayson Tatum

Post#1 » by Djoker » Wed Aug 20, 2025 2:11 pm

Was just listening to Ben and Cody in their Top 25 peaks of the 21st Century. They came to a consensus that Tatum is better than Butler at their peaks. I'm kind of on the fence about these two guys. In fact, gun to my head, I would probably go with Butler. I trust him more in the playoffs and think his high end performances are better than Tatum's although I guess his low end performances are also worse. So yea...

Thoughts?

Tatum’s playoff stats in either the 2022 finals run or 2024 championship are no where close to peak butlers. Or frankly, even particlulary good. They’re like isiah Thomas on the pistons (but with some defense) when you look at them. To me this is obviously butler and people massively overrate Tatum being a decent first option on a loaded team.

Seems to clearly be Butler.
