Shai shot exactly 50% (350/700) on 7.1 10+ foot 2pt FGAs per game last season. Only 13.1% assisted/86.9% unassisted. Remarkable ability to self-generate mid-range shots off the dribble, primarily in isolation and as the PnR ball handler. It's not the type of shot that'll warp the defense and open up high-leverage scoring opportunities for teammates at the rim & three-point line, but it's an undeniable weapon situationally speaking. Tempo control, game management, mismatches, broken plays, clutch possessions, etc.

He's gotta move to the shooting guard spot.

As they incorporate more and more Nikola Topic I hope to see him where he belongs.

Does he?

They literally just won a title with him filling the role he does now, sharing ball-handling duties with Caruso and JW. They were the 3rd-best RS offense in the league, and again in the PS.

What's the incentive to try and change how things work for the team? Especially in the absence of a talent really worth dicking around for?

Should be pretty heavy favorites to repeat. Hoping to see a bit smoother PO run from them this go around. Chet the guy I'll be really watching to see how he develops this season.

They aren't the perfect team, and they can be better. This is one of the key flaws and weaknesses in OKC, and it can be fixed like that.

Is it really a flaw, though? It certainly doesn't look like it was. It looks like there are far more important pathways to offensive improvement, to be honest.

It doesn't look like it was because they won, but you forget to mention that there were two times OKC was in a game 7. What could a more important pathway to offensive improvement be other than integrating a real point guard?

Defensive improvement. Health of your second scorer. Chet improving. Improving on the offensive glass.

There are a lot of things I'd care about ahead of what specific position Shai is playing.

He’s just unstoppable. This is officially the best guard peak since Curry, of course, and up there with the best of the past 40 years.
