Gary Payton (2000)
24.2 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 8.9 apg, 2 spg, 45% FG, 34% 3FG, 74% FT
Sonics finished 45-37
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chris Paul (2008):
22 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 10.2 apg, 3 spg, 48% FG, 36% 3FG, 88% FT
Hornets are on pace to finish with 54 wins
The crazy thing is... 2000 was basically Gary Payton's best season (statistically speaking)... Is Chris Paul in his 3rd season already as good as Gary Payton at his best???

Why would you be appalled?? I think it's great that an all time great is shaping before our eyes...

There's more to the game than stats.

That indeed is why I am appalled... At this rate CP3 will be an all time great point guard within 2 years... and wont even be 25... That is AMAZING...

So what if the Hornets win 54 games? compared to the Sonics only winning 45 that year?

I'm not quite sure you know what "appalled" means. Do you really hate CP3 or something?

Appalled - to be overcome with shock...
I am shocked that a 22 year old is putting up comparable stats to that of an All time great... Yes, I am appalled...

I remember watching Payton play and then I watched Paul play against the Lakers twice this season.
I am terrified with Paul but I was never terrified with Payton.
Damn Paul is quickly becoming a top 5 player.

I'm not knocking Chris Paul, but this is dumb logic. Payton's help that season was Vin Baker. When he had help like he did in the mid 90's he was the best player on a team that didn't win fewer than 57 games for 5 straight years including a team that won 64 games. So what if the Hornets do win 54 games???

I was just replying to the guy that said we shouldnt just look at numbers, which I agree with, but CP3 is on pace to have better numbers and more wins than GPs best statistical season, at age 22.... Its just amazing to me... thats all
