Kevin Martin vs. Michael Redd

Post#1 » by Illuminati » Tue Jan 15, 2008 7:58 am

Who would you prefer to have on your team as the starting 2? Kevin Martin is really evolving into a 2 way player (efficient scorer and good defender).

Getting old? The guy turned 28 in August. I don't have a problem preferring one guy to another, but saying he's getting old is rather ignorant.

Martin was playing good pre-injury as well, how many games have you seen K-Mart play in?

Martin is simply taking his game to a new level. He's better right now.

It pains me to say this as a Warriors fan, but Martin is clearly better. Much more efficient scorer, better defender, younger, and paid less. Martin basically wins every possible category except 3pt shooting.

Redd is a better all around player, you couldn't count the times he has been either one rebound or one assist short of a triple-double this year, but on the other hand martin clearly is Much more efficient scorer.

Must be true, if it's a rumor you read on Hoopshype.

Actually a pretty nice comparison given they were both relative steals at their draft positions. I think overall Martin is better, he is by far the better, more efficient scorer, the only thing Redd having over him is 3pt shooting (even though he has lower 3pt%, he has a much quicker trigger). Martin is also a better defender IMO, more steals, comparable rebounders, younger, and on a better contract. Redd averages more assists, but he has the ball in his hands a lot more than Martin does, and Redd has often been accused of ignoring teammates so I don't buy that he is a clearly superior passer, but neither of them are terrific at it.

All in all, I don't see how anyone would prefer Redd.

Kevin Martin SHOULD be selected by the coaches as an all-star this season, even after his month long absence.
