I admittedly have not seen much of Smith this year but in the past he's been one of the more overrated defenders in the league. He'd put up big block and steal numbers and not much else.

Interesting thing on defensive +/-, Smith and Dalembert are negative (meaning their presence keeps teams from scoring) while Chandler and AK are positive. That being said, I think +/- are a pretty shady stay at best.

Historically, I'd say the Chandler/AK47 combo blows the other one out of the water but this season Dalembert seems to have his fouling under control which is allowing him to block tons of shots and Smith has been a real force on D all over the court, especially with his ability to switch on PnRs.

Chandler's blocks are down this season but his D rebounding is still superior an AK looks like he is miscast as a SF on D a bit which has lessened his impact.

EDIT: Another way to think of it is overall D rating. NO is the best of these at 4 in the A, ATL is second of these at 8, Philly at 12 Utah at 20. Hypothetically all these guys are "anchors" on D so this could provide some insight. Or not considering that some teams have better perimeter defender (NO) and some have terrible perimeter defenders (Utah).

conely or bust. interesting stat. All I know is, Daly ha simproved his voerall defense significantly and when he is not on the floor, the sixers suffer(when he comes back, thats when we get stops)

I clicked Dalembert and Smith but that was until I read it was about defense exclusively. On that side of the ball Ak and chandler take the cake.
