Drafted 4 and 5, traded for one another on draft day.

Vince had a lot of personal success early on and put up solid numbers and highlights.. He still puts up decent numbers.. However, it seems like Jamison (as their careers progressed) is the player that is getting better with age..

Better player right now ???

Nah, I'd still take Vince. 25/5/5 on 46% shooting is better than 23/10 on 43% from the field.

Jamison has really stepped it up on D this year. He isnt a great defender or anything, but really putting in more effort and using his hands a lot more. That was always the knock with him, and it appears he has went from a 2 to at least a 5 ( out of 10).

Look at what AJ did last year all by himself against the Cavs. He kept them in a lot of games.

Whoever is in a contract yr is going to be the better player. 90% of NBA players only play hard when there an upcoming FA.

Once Jamison gets a new contract he will decline rapidly.

Carter is still the better player, always was, always will be.

i doubt that man. jamison is a guy of the highest character. the difference in his game is that he looks noticeably much stronger (bigger muscles) than last year. so now he has a bit more power and now he has a fighting chance against the powerful PFs like Randolph.

Using FG% to compare the two player is mindless. There's a recent rule change in the NBA, it's called the 3-point line. Jamison happens to shoot a lot from that line.

Carter's eFG% is .500
Jamison's eFG% is .488
They're pretty darn close.

Jamison's PER is 20.0
Carter's PER is 18.9
Jamison has a small edge in total statistical contribution.

Overall, I'd say Jamison is a bit better than Carter this year. He has improved his defense from 1 on a scale of 1-10 to about 4. He is now almost an average defender. It's really been an incredible transformation. He is also pulling down an incredible 11 boards per game.

But the biggest reason I think Jamison is better is that his ability to spread the floor really helps the offense. You expect your SG to be able to shoot from the perimeter. But when your PF can shoot that well from outside, it makes things a lot easier for everybody else. There's a reason the Wizards are ranked 12th in offensive efficiency while New Jersey is ranked 26th.

Yeah, Nets are coached by Lawrence Frank.

I don't really like how this is phrased. Putting Jamison ahead of Carter right now is fine with me, but Jamison's nowhere near Carter's peak and it really seems like it seems like the OP is phrasing it in terms of Jamison being the superior draft pick. So to be clear: If we went back in time, I'd pick Carter over Jamison.

Yep those, but without AJ, it would probably have been like 102 to 50 everygame. The Cavs were definitely better, but you cant argue that Jamison did everything possible to keep the guys in it, while players like Deshawn shot in the 20% range.

I agree completely.

Jamison might be barely edging out Carter this year, but Carter has easily been the better player throughout their respective careers. It's not even close.

Anyone who says Carter is the better player don't know basketball. He's the better talent but Jamison is the better player by far. An NBA player is not just talent, they need heart, hustle and toughness. All of which Vince lack. Vince could go down as the most wasted talent by an NBA All-Star in the history of the league. Every GM will take 20 & 10 over 20/5/5 if they know what the players are about. Jamison passed Carter whether Vince took a step back or not, a pass is a pass. Vince is also a chronic loser, Jamison has been on a championship level team.

Talent

Carter >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Jamison

Better Player

Jamison > Carter
