Ehh, depends on what you need. Brad isn't the slouch defensively that he has been in the past (not near Haywood, just saying that the inevitable argument that Haywood is a great defender and Brad is a terrible one isn't valid because Brad isn't terrible).

Quick question though--why isn't Haywood playing more? I mean it's hard to compare them statistically, because extrapolating Haywood's stats when there is a 9 minute difference would seem a little far-fetched.

I'd rather have Brad Miller. He is playing great this season and he's one of the best passers at the C position.

B Miller.

Haywood is good defensively, but he's not a shutdown player. Miller is no slouch either now after losing 25 pounds

Miller has been consistent all year.

Ignore the fact that I'm a Wizards fan, and understand that I try to be as impartial as I can when it comes to any kind of comparison....

Haywood is most certainly a shutdown defender, and I can say this with absolute confidence.

Really? Could you describe me his post defense? Is his footwork are good? Help on the weakside? and etc...

Footwork is above-average. Nothing spectacular but good nonetheless. His man defense is among the best in the NBA, and his help defense, albeit good, is nowhere near his man-D.

What makes him so effective is his frame - nate33 regularly states this, so I give credit to him for coming up with this....

Haywood has the 2nd tallest standing reach in the NBA. His length combined with his height makes even the most dominant post player have a tough time getting off a good shot (see: Yao Ming, Kevin Garnett, etc).

Hmm, if this is true (very likely) why cant he get more time from the coach? He is just playing a tad under 27 minutes....He should get at least 35+ minutes IMO....

You would only find about 2 posters on the Wizards board who would disagree with your opinion, and we're convinced one is Eddie Jordan and the other is his brother.

Oh yeah. So forgot about Eddie Jordan...IIRC he plays Etan Thomas before Haywood...But if this issue is really the coach's stubbornness why is he not fired or etc...

As much as it pains me to say this, he's actually a pretty good coach. The players love him, he's a respectable guy, he knows how to run an offense and how to get his players to listen to what he says, etc.

He's never been good at implementing a defensive system that works and teaching it to the players, but that's why we have brought in Randy Ayers this season (former head coach) who is a defensive specialist and the main reason we've gone from defensive laughingstock to the 16th best defensive team in the NBA.

Yeah, EJ doesn't always give Brendan the minutes he deserves, his substitution patterns aren't what I would call "great" and his out-of-timeout plays are absolutely awful, those are basically all of his faults, and are much outnumbered by his positives.
