Bruce Bowen vs Derek Fisher

Post#1 » by Slava » Mon Jan 21, 2008 8:21 am

WHo would you rather have on a contending team.

1. Bowen is the better defender.

2. Fisher is the better shooter.

3. Bowen has always played on a veteran team whereas Fisher has shown great leadership of late with a young Jazz team and now the Lakers.

4. Both are pretty durable.

5. Fisher is clutch.

5. Fisher is the better ball handler.

I gotta go with Fisher. But I have a feeling you set this up as a subtle Fisher show off thread.

Fisher is a really nice Role player to have and can be vital to any championship squad but so can Bowen and i do feel down the stretch Bowens Defense on a key player is way more important and his corner threes are just nice to have .. Fisher though can hit more timely shots and is clutch and doesnt play much bad D himself ..

coming from a Laker fan i might take bowen .. but if its like RIGHT NOW i think Bowen is right at the age he might start declining at so maybe i take Fisher .. i dont know but if you could have both on your team your set i nkow they both wouldnt mnid comng off the bench and that would be ultimate

Bowen easily.

I like Fisher, but Bowen is a perennial DPOY candidate. A lock down defender that can harass the best perimeter players in the game. And while not a big offensive threat he's good enough w/ that corner 3 (he's lead the league in 3pt% before) that you have to respect it and can't just play off him all the time.

Better defender? Yes by far but Fisher is quite the better shooter.

This year - exceptionally good for Fish at this aspect - is an anomaly, but otherwise Bowen has always been better long-range shooter, plus he's no less clutch than Fish (1 shot can't make a difference ;-)) and with his elite defense he's more valuable than Derek, as Cow and others duly noted. Remember 2005 Finals, when switching BB to Billups changed the tide of the series?

No Doubt i agree with you but better long range and Clutch shooter ? i highly doubt that ..

i would bring 0.4 but your right one shot doesnt make a difference .. i have Still watched fish hit very clutch three's and he has never been afraid to take a big shot throughout his career which is why he has been Vital to the lakers championship teams ..

but i agree you still take Bowen overall because he is a much better asset to have with that Shutdown Pesky D and you cannot just sag off him or ignore him on Defense because he will make you pay from those corners all day..

 Derek Fisher..what a joke..when did this dude become overrated?..

Bowen sh*ts on Fisher..we're talking about arguably the best perimeter defender in the NBA, and a guy that shoots 40% from the 3-point line, against Derek Fisher..

I really have been impressed with the way Fisher has played, specifically his shooting this season, but this really isn't close.

Bowen is the BEST perimeter defender in the league and then factor in he's a guy that's generally one of the best three point shooters in the league, his value to a team is far more valuable.

Don't be fooled by this year, its one HUUGE anamoly....Fisher's a career 40% shoooter, and yes, that includes the years with shaq and kobe....

don't be fooled by the stats Borat, Bowen shoots 3s from lioterally the same position each time and isn't as versatile a shooter as Fish. Fish on the other hand takes more 3s than Bowen's shots per game.

Bruce Bowen.

Versatile, great defender

Good, clutch 3PT shooter (limited to the corners, but he's going to be open there all the time)
