Both players are having amazing seasons but which player is having the better season so far?

I'd still go with RJ because of his defense and slashing/playmaking ability.

Jamison, as always, is putting up some very nice numbers but I've never been a particularly big fan of his game.

I don't like RJ, his game is kinda reckless if his injuries tell the truth.. I'll take Jamison.

Jamison is the only player in the East besides Howard putting up 20+ points and 10+ rebounds per game. Not to mention his defense has improved this season from bad to about average. He has a good three point and midrange game and he is a master of floating, flipping, up and under, quarky shots and just a rebounding machine for his size at 6th in the league.

Not to Jamison is and excellent leader, team captain. Also his team is surging, 5 games over .500, just sweeping the season series over against Dallas, and just last week Jamison's teamswept a home-and-home series versus Boston, best team record wise in the league. Mean time Jefferson's team with all of their team supposed "Big Three" playing they are 4 games below .500.

Give me Jamison, son.

Unsurprisingly, I'll take Jamison. He's one of the most unique players in this league because as a power forward, he stretches opposing PF's out to the 3pt line which really hurts their overall defense.

This season, Jamison has basically all the bases covered. Excellent inside scorer with his vast array of flip shots (best in the game at those, as far as I'm concerned), deadly from outside, especially for a forward, his defense has improved to the point where he's actually average, and he's one of the league's best rebounders this season.

As GilArenas88 mentioned, he's the only East player besides Dwight Howard averaging 20+ points and 10+ rebounds while leading the Wizards (along with Caron) to one of the best records in the Eastern Conference minus Gilbert Arenas.

Part of it is probably the contract year - nearly EVERY player plays better in a contract year.

Most of it, however I accredit to Randy Ayers' institution of a fundamentally solid defensive scheme and Jamison, being a smart, receptive vet, taking it all in. His defense has been the biggest thing for me, this year. Yeah, the 2 extra boards are nice (though the extra scoring is more from higher usage with Gilbert being gone) but with the simple addition of being a non-sieve on D, he elevates himself to another level in this league, past the Zach Randolph's, Lamar Odom's, etc.

When TS% and eFG% is introduced, the offensive comparison between the two becomes a bit closer.

Of course Howard is going to have a sky-high fg%, he takes nothing but inside shots. A large portion of Antawn's shots are 3 pointers.

Howard's TS% / eFG% = 62.0 / 59.4

Jamison's TS% / eFG% = 52.8 / 48.6

Im going with Jamison, honestly the 20-10 did it for me. Personly I cant stand how RJ plays so ive got a bit of negative bias.

The 20 percentage point difference was effectively cut in half using up-to-date statistics.

The point wasn't to say Antawn Jamison = Dwight Howard on offense. The point was to say that the difference in efficiency between the two wasn't 20%.

Jamison has been a revelation this year. As a Wizards fan, I am in utter shock at his ability to pull down almost 11 boards a game while also playing close to average defense. I've never seen a 31-year-old vet improve so much on defense.

Think about it for a minute. Antawn freaking Jamison is 9th in the league in rebounds per game!

I'll take him over Jefferson. Jefferson is having a good year, but the Nets still aren't doing that well.

Jamison shoots 44%, not 40%. I mean maybe im being petty but with a-rod's posted percentages Howard gets rounded up be it may .6% points and Jamison gets rounded down 4 % points. Oh, also of course Dwights going to have an outstanding fg% alls he mostly does is dunks and lay-ups, not to mention Dwights 6-11 and 265 lbs.

I'm not sure I care much for the "Wiz are a better team" argument. I still don't see *that* much seperating the two teams and there are a lot of factors aside from the 2 players in question that go into that. RJ has shown he can be a large piece of a good playoff team in the past.

You don't judge KG by how bad the Wolves were last year. Wade is on one of the 2 worst teams in the league but I'm pretty sure he's an OK player.

The Wiz just have better balance and chemistry right now. To be sure part of that is due to Jamison, but I just don't think it's particularly fair to penalize RJ for his teams short comings.
