Camby better then Yao???

Post#1 » by rocket3forlife2 » Fri Jan 25, 2008 6:42 am

I didn't see it, but I heard on t.n.t Charles basically said Camby deserve to start over Yao ming.

Yao stats

PPG 22.4
RPG 10.7
APG 2.5
SPG 0.4
BPG 2.3
FG% 0.504
FT% 0.853
3P% 0.000
MPG 37.

Camby stats

PPG 9.5
RPG 14.5
APG 3.1
SPG 1.0
BPG 3.9
FG% 0.458
FT% 0.688
3P% 0.286
MPG 35.1

To me camby is just a roll player who does his job very very well.I don't recall too many teams game planning for marcus camby, but with the rockets if you stop Yao you have a great chance of winning ask golden state, utah, and phoniex.

As far as blocks go even though Yao is not quick off his feet to actually block alot of shots he still changes allot.plus head to head Yao owns camby everytime....I just want to know what you guys think and why?

obviously Yao is the better player, but I think Camby is having an outrageous season and deserves to be in the ASG. As an older guy that has played as well as him his entire career, he really deserves to make it at least once. He probably should have made it last year over Okur.

I agree with this. Camby may not be the better player, but he definitely deserves to be an all-star as much as any West center.....especially considering his age and the fact that he's never made it before. There have been a few years where he was definitely very deserving, but was passed over for missing too many games because of injuries. This year he has been healthy all year, and is having an insane season statistically.

And as far as Charles goes.....he is always a little 'out there' as far as all-star selections go(not that thinking Camby deserves to start is that out there). He always seems to be into rewarding the guys who are having special seasons, and not always just the well known stars who are having pretty average seasons by their own standards......which is why he picked a guy like Hedo Turkoglu and refused to pick a backup center in the East.

Marc Stein also picked Camby as a started over Yao.

Actually, I think Camby might have better numbers but Yao a bigger impact on the game.

I remember someone saying that someone said Camby is like a Jason Kidd where the impact on the game is a lot less than the numbers.

Camby does this every first half of the season. Can he keep from getting hurt and keep his play at this high a level is the million dollar question.

Yao can do it on both ends camby just manily at one. With the game on the line I don't think you want the ball in marcus camby hands.Yao grabs boards and blocks shots also so it's not like he can't do it.

camby is having the better season so far, but overall youd havta go with yao especially factoring in age/ceiling and injuries.. 14.5rpg and 4bpg is just out of control, chances are he aint finishing the year with those numbers tho

There is no comparision Yao Ming is the better player, he's young hes the best scoring center in the NBA today, he has very bright future, he's a team player, he can obviouslly rebound, if it come's down to needing a new franchise player, I would pick Yao Ming over Marcus any day, sorry Denver fan's but he's just your dirty player, he grabs rebounds, scores less then double-digits, which means hes an X-Factor, defenses don't really have them on there offensive scouting report, they rather have him on there offense scheme, it's hard to drive in on him yes, Yao though, once he get's his defense and better ball handling, not just will he be a threat offensivly, even more with ball handling, but he will be a great defender soon, he has said in recent interveiws he is working on his handlng and defense.

Yao is a better overall player, but Camby's defensive contributions are greater than Yao's offensive contributions.

I'm a denver fan and i'll say yao is the better player but Camby is worth more to the nuggets than yao is to the rockets.

The Rockets are a top 3 defensive team.

Nuggets don't play defense.

That's all.

Wow....thats quite the long ass sentence.

Lol...right. The Nuggets are sixth in defense. I didn't know the difference between top three and sixth was that substantial.

Yao's better but I can't believe the Knicks traded Marcus Camby and Nene to the Nuggs for Antonio McDyess.. Camby and Nene were both young at the time and would have solidified our frontcourt for the next 8 years!
