All star game East vs. West

Post#1 » by Hendrix » Fri Jan 25, 2008 1:46 pm

Alright. Not talking about the all star game where they don't try. But in a grind it out 7 game playoff series. Disregarding the bench, which team would you take as a starting lineup.

East

PG-Jason Kidd
SG-Dwayne Wade
SF-Lebron James
PF-Kevin Garnett
C-Dwight Howard

vs.

West

PG-Allen Iverson
SG-Kobe Bryant
SF-Carmelo Anthony
PG-Tim Duncan
C-Yao Ming

While I think J Kidd would be better running a team with that many stars on it, I think Iverson's been better then Kidd this year. And Kobe > Wade imo. I think the east team fits together better though, and would choose the east too.

The West has superior talent but the East are a better team in my opinion this year.. Kidd can facilitate the offense and LeBron are Howard play great off of him as they showed in the olympic qualifiers.. Wade is not as good as Kobe yet but both he and LeBron can provide heroics if need be.. Garnett does not need the ball to be effective but he's a good option too.. Everything seems like it'll click more for the East than the West.

If the West had Nash or CP3 starting instead of AI, I'd pick the West hands down.

Even though I think the West will win the all-star game, for a 7-game series, I'm taking the East.

AI>Kidd (kidd will run the team better but AI has been the better player this year as hendrix mentioned)
Kobe>Wade
Lebron>Melo
Kevin>Duncan(Overall career wise Duncan of course but in a game of flash and skil i take garnett)
Dwight=Yao

im gonna hold off on my prediction until i see the reserves who will play a big part in who wins

Rebounding-East. Dwight, KG, and Lebron are all elite rebounders for their position in the frontcourt+ Kidd Can't say the same for the west.

Individual Scoring-West. I think the biggest deciding factors are Iverson>Kidd, and Yao>Dwight. Although Dwight is scoring the same this year, I think Yao has a more diverse offensive skill set.

Passing- East. Kidd, Lebron, and KG are all top notch passers from their positions. Duncan, and Yao are both excellent passing big men, but the wing, and pg players are more shoot first players.

Defense. East, but very close. Duncan, and Yao down low is probably pretty close to KG, and Howard. East might have the edge in versitility there. LBJ> Melo. Kobe>Wade. Kidd> AI.

Team offense-East, but close. I don't think either team would have trouble scoring the ball, and has plenty of offensive weopons + great crunch time scorers. However the east has better passers, and would probably fit better as a team imo.
