Shaq's Legacy

Big if here, but IF the Suns somehow win the championship with Shaq how does that affect his legacy? That will mean he has gone to the finals with each of the 4 teams he has been on and has won a title with 3 of them. I know this isn't the same Shaq as before but would this make his legacy better, or keep it the same? It would seem that whatever team has traded for him has benefitted with at least one ring pending on whether the Suns win it or not. What do you guys think?

If Shaq can win a 'ship in Phoenix, he will cement his legacy as perhaps the greatest C in the history of the league.

5 championships with 3 different teams, including one that was infamous for folding like a lawn chair in the playoffs, plus career stats of 25/11/3/2.5 blocks per game...hard to argue against that.

It won't affect his legacy much he'll always be remembered as one of the greatest big men to play the game (who needed a great wing player to help lead him to a championship).

Not really when you look at the other candidates. Shaq if he won a championship with Phx would still not be a top 3 center ever (having said that he is, and has been for a while a top 5 center in history).

^what if Shaq won 2 titles with Phx and wins 2 Finals MVP or just 1 Finals MVP

He still faces some sick competition in Kareem, Wilt and Bill Russell, and I'd probably still rate them all over him.

He'd probably be rated over Hakeem tho for the 4th spot, which is debatable right now.

But doesn't Shaq's statistical advantage and rings, win over Hareem atm?

It's not even a question that Shaq is better than Hakeem and I am a Shaq hater.

If you completely ignore defense, sure.

Shaq wasn't exactly a stiff on defense. In his prime he was a dominant two way player.

you can make the argument that he has had a better more celebrated career than Akeem.

Sure, but Hakeem was far from a stiff on offense, and while Shaq because of his size was decent on D (not good on pick and roll d btw) Hakeem was 2 leagues better. Shaq was better on O, but Hakeem was a lot better on D.

Where are those numbers someone posted to show Shaq's inferior competition during his title runs?
