All-time is tough, I'd say Reggie Miller.

Kerr and Reggie are best all-time, and Ray is best in the league, one of the best ever.

Steve Nash might be the best 3 point shooter ever actually.

Statistically its Jason Kapono but if I had to pick someone it would Reggie Miller.

How's that possible when Kerr once shot 50% from 3PT for the whole season?[/b]

Nash is putting himself in the conversation, he takes a lot of 3s off the dribble as opposed to Kerr who was more of a rythm/catch and shoot type.

For a number of reasons.

1) Kerr shot 50% when the NBA used the shorter 3P line (short line was in place during the 1994-95, 95-96 and 96-97 seasons). He did shoot 50% once when they used the long 3P line too, but that season he made 73 3s only.

2) Nash makes about twice to thrice as many 3s as Kerr did per season if you look beyond the 3 seasons the short line was there. Kerr's 2 most prolific seasons if you discount the 3 years the NBA used the shorter line is 73 and 51 makes, which if you add them together you will end up with a total which will be good for Nash's 5th best single season after this year.

3) Nash shoots a damn good percentage himself. He made 155 3s at 45.5% last season.

You cannot hype Kerr for the title of best 3 point shooter ever IMO. Kapono shoots a better percentage from the real 3 point line, and even he makes a lot more 3s than Kerr did in seasons with the regular line. Kapono is now in the midst of shooting 51% or better from 3 for the 2nd consecutive season.

Kapono has a much better case than Kerr IMO. Larry Bird and Reggie Miller also have very strong cases for best all time as well.

I'm curious to see how much Nash is assisted on his 3 pointers. He usually pulls up for the 3 pointer off of the high pick and roll and rarely do I ever see him stay in one spot and wait for a free look beyond the arc.

yeah...nash has to be in the conversation too...bowen shot 0.500 too but I wouldnt say he belongs in this conversation...the same season he shot 0.500 from the FT-stripe too :o

then again...its better than 0,441 3pt% and 0,404 ft% the other season! :D
