PFs better than Al Harrington

Warriors fan seems to think Al Harrington is a top 10 PF. How many PFs in the league would you take over Al Harrington.

My list (assuming you count Okafor as a center):

KG, Bosh, Josh Smith, Rasheed, JO, Jamison, Dirk, Pau, David West, Duncan, Big Al, Aldridge, Boozer, Brand, Marion/Amare

Am I missing anyone? Possibly Turkoglu as he's pretty much slipped to PF this year?

Can you name any? Most W's fans think he's pretty middle of the pack.

The great 510Reggae:

For this season

Duncan
KG
Boozer
Bosh
AMARE (he's back here now)
Dirk

Yea. Wait until Brand comes back. Gasol probably when Bynum comes back.

Sheed is Center.

Talk about paper tigers.

rpa's just upset because he thinks Sacramento will get a lot in trade for Ron Artest (couple Warriors fans had suggested Harrington and a first - I say that's too much for an animal abusing, domestic abuser on a half-season rental - or exercise the trade exception and a first)... so much so he came over to the Warriors' board and railed on it for about ten pages (or actually, about three pages on it, then seven pages back and forth with 510 over whether or not Harrington is a good PF).

Turiaf... :rolf:

As a Warriors fan, I think Al is the best PF the WARRIORS have (to be supplanted by Brandan Wright, in time). And I'd rather have him than not have him (ideally as a sixth man).

Perfect PF for the Dubs might be 'Sheed.

"All he does is shoot... " actually, that's exactly what Nellie has asked him to do. And he does it pretty well - at a 40% clip this season from the arc. The nice thing about this is it draws the opposing PF (or center) out to the perimeter, taking shot blockers out of the equation and opening up the lanes for guys like Baron and Monta to drive.

So the real question is: who thinks Ron Artest has high trade value in the League?

I do. I think that almost every team could use his defense, hustle and post game. When every team could use him, drives his value up, innit?

Josh Boone is tougher than Al Harrington.

Funny... rpa changed his argument from starting PFs in the NBA to just PFs in general... God I wish I could be so sly to take something like that out, and then argue that players who play predominantly at C this season, can also be argued @ PF...

rpa wrote:5) Harrington isn't being underrated. He's in the bottom half of starting PFs in the this league EASILY.

And then, everyone who's ever played @ PF (not even this season, just ever) became a PF...

All of a sudden, a lot of the players you listed don't qualify by what you initially said... but I wont keep bringing it up, it really weakens your argument (that no one else is in)

Even with that clarifier he's still not even top 20. He'd be on par with a Drew Gooden, MAYBE.

KG
Duncan
Bosh
Horford
Jefferson
Gasol
O'Neal
Aldridge
Boozer
Gooden
Dirk
Shawn Marion
Josh Smith
Udonis Haslem
Elton Brand or Tim Thomas
David West
Okafor
Rasheed Wallace
Jamison
Howard

There's 20 right there that are better. You may be able to say Harrington is on par with Haslem/Gooden, but the rest are easily better.

If there are 20 legitimate PFs in the league better than Harrington then what is Harrington? The 21st best starting PF. Again, answer the SIMPLE question: would you rather have Duncan starting at PF or Harrington?

1. KG
2. Duncan
3. Bosh
4. Boozer
5. Al Jefferson
6. Dirk
7. Gasol
8. Brand(when healthy)
9. Josh Smith
10. Jamison

All these guys are way better than Harrington.

There are 30 power forwards who average at least 25 minutes a game. At least 17 of them are unquestionably better than Harrington:

garnett,kevin
bosh,chris
nowitzki,dirk
jefferson,al
boozer,carlos
brand,elton
smith,josh
gasol,pau
marion,shawn
west,david
jamison,antawn
okafor,emeka
aldridge,lamarcu
randolph,zach
o'neal,jermaine
horford,al
odom,lamar

I'd put another 5 guys at Harrington's general level:

collison,nick
mcdyess,antonio
martin,kenyon
gooden,drew
haslem,udonis

Harrington is better than these 7

thomas,tim
lee,david
wilcox,chris
kleiza,linas
murphy,troy
jianlian,yi
diaw,boris

So I have Harrington ranked in the 18-23 range - among 30 players. He's worse than 60% of the starting-caliber PF's in the league.
