Should Kerr have gone after JO????????

Surely Kerr could have gotten JO with the same package he used to get Shaq. All things considered, who would you have gone for?

I would have taken JO in a heart beat (though I think either would have been an awful deal)

I dont think Indiana would have accepted... They have Granger, Dunleavey, Shawn Williams.. I could be wrong though

yeah...phoenix would be shocking good with JO as he is able to run with them, while defending other bigs

cant see indiana accepting though..they would need a leader in return and marion is a #2 with a contract, thats not worth building around

Absolutely. JO would have been a nice fit and a nice complement to Amare. JO would guard the best offensive big man (PF or C) to keep Amare out of foul trouble. On offense, JO would benefit by always having a lousy defender on him because Amare would draw the opponent's best defender.

Phoenix would keep the same basic style, but with better post defense to handle guys like Duncan and Gasol. JO is much younger too. Phoenix would have a window of opportunity as long as Nash stayed healthy.

Jo would have been great in their system. He still can rebound unlike Shaq. And he was always a better defender than Shaq. But being a Laker fan I'm glad they chose Shaq over JO lol

Truth.

Marion could just play the 4 in Indiana and Jim O'Brien would cream himself since his team would run and chuck even more.

I think so because even when Nash retires they would still be a contender with Amare and JO up front and Barbosa running point.

The other O'Neal would've made more sense as he is younger, more athletic, and brings the entire package to the table. He would fill the void (post defense) that Phoenix is in dire need and become a rebounding machine. He can alter shots and hit the open J that Nash creates.

Yeah probably. But then again Shaq helps em more than JO against the Lakers. Bynum can get numbers against both Amare and JO and they're not gonna double team him obviously because of Kobe, Lamar, Pau, and Fisher or one of the Lakers shooters.

Against any other team, yes you take JO.

I actually disagree with everyone in this thread. As much as Shaq has declined, he's still BETTER than JO. I mean, JO really sucks now.

Shaq is the better scorer (by far), better rebounder (yes, look at the stats, he averages more in less minutes), and just as good a passer.

JO is just as injury prone and overpaid as Shaq is.

The only thing that JO has on Shaq is defense and age. But when you consider that JO has already failed to get himself acclimated with the Pacers run n' gun offense(they've looked much better without him quite frankly) and Shaq has the Championship experience, I think you take him over JO no problem.

The Suns made the right decision IMO.
