Sometimes a player is on the perimeter and is guarded but and their teammate comes to set a pick but the player with the ball tells him to get out of the way so he can go one on one. What's the point of this? Is that just a case of "my nuts are bigger than yours" or what?

Because when a player comes to screen, he brings his defender also. If you have a guy like Lebron, both of the defenders will double Lebron and force him to give up the ball. So if Lebron really wants to shoot, he won't call a screen.

Also, if the player thinks that he can beat the guy off the dribble without a screen, then he will call off the screen.

I thought this stuff was obvious.

This isn't "I got big balls" attitude because NBA players will score 70% of the time if guarded one on one in a game.

Because coaches like George Karl like to put players such as Canby and Martin on wingmen like Brandon Roy.
