Jordan vs. Lebron

Taking into account Jordan's failure to get to the finals without Pippen, how much better is Lebron than Jordan? (Or do you think Jordan is better than LBJ?)

Jordan led a pretty average supporting cast to 50 wins, so it's not like he has always had a strong supporting cast, and did nothing significant with his weaker supporting cast..

Lebron is the best player in the NBA, but his run to the finals is overrated IMO..his team had a 1st round bye, which is huge, considering the fatigue factor..in the 2nd round, he played a team with no big man, where his team exposed that..of course the Pistons series was epic from Lebron, but then he got swept in the finals..

I find it to be overrated..

the Cavs would have no chance against those 80's C's or Pistons, and Jordan also had to play a 59-win Bucks team with a weak supporting cast..

Lebron.. Better defender, more clutch, better scorer. LBJ is the definition of a winner...

LeBron has played what, four full seasons in the NBA and you want to compare him to Jordan.

Lets just keep comparing Kobe to Jordan and leave it at that.

Lebron actually has more potential than Jordan because of his freakish size/athleticism combo and ability to truck his way to the hole.

He basically is averaging 30 PPG as a mediocre shooter.

If Lebron ever became a great shooter he could average 35+ PPG. That would be in addition to his rebounding, assists, etc.

Yeah, its amazing that LeBron is doing what he is without a consistent jump shot or a post game.

The question is, how much is LeBron likely to improve in those areas? He's been in the league for 5 years now, I'm not sure how much he is going to improve on his jumpshot.

He isn't going to improve that much with the form he's using now. If he changes it and works on it in the off season, he could develop a great jump shot. Look at a guy like Jason Kidd. He's been in the league for a long time and never developed a consistent jump shot because of his bad form. I know that there are some weird forms that are effective (Bird, Redd, and Kev Mart). Lebron's isn't one of them. I want to see Lebron with Kapono's form. 8)

Would Kapono's form work on contested and or fading shots?

Yes, actually; Kapono routinely hits fades and off-balance shots; he likes to sucker his defender in with a pump fake so he can send him flying by and get closer and then he runs into help defense now and again; he's a money shooter. His lack of scoring is more a product of weak athleticism and poor handles than a shot that doesn't translate to contortionist feats; he hits on the move, fading, leaning, etc, on a fairly regular basis.

LeBron with that form would be kind of scary.

Why wouldn't it? A good form is a good form no matter which way you look at it. You could slightly alter it on fade away shots if you have to.
