Who is the best low-key/low cost acquisition this season?

Derek Fisher (has to be up there with "Kobe's new passing atitude", "Bynum's Emergence" and "Robbin' Gasol" for one of the main reasons the Lakers are where they are)

Kyle Korver (getting anything for Giricek is low cost. 22-4 record is nicer.)

Jamario Moon (Hard knock life story, gave Toronto some of the athletisism and defense they needed. Paid on league minimum, one of the better money for productivity deals this season)

(Bank robberies for Gasol, and 7-1 deals for KG do not count as low-key/low cost)

I think Fisher as well. Farmar is not ready to take on the reigns full time as yet.

I'll go for Korver. Utah desperately needed a 3-point sniper to spread the floor so Deron and Boozer can work their mid-range magic.

fisher, getting rid of smush was huge

even though he just got traded and his team was underachieving, i think the bulls getting joe smith was a very good move. don't know how bad they would be without him. now that he's with cleveland i think he'll be a good unheralded move. ben wallace and wally have been getting all the headlines.

There are a number of these, definitely. Joe Smith, as dcash4 noted, was a very good move. Grant Hill was a great move, and he's doing the 15/5/3 thing in Phoenix right now on 50.5/34.2/86.9, which is pretty impressive. He hasn't rebounded this well since 02-03, hasn't been this prolific a passer since 04-05 (and all of these are during his injury-plagued Orlando years, though 04-05 was a 66-game season)...

He's having a stand-out season for Phoenix.

I think Utah's record since acquiring Korver speaks for itself, though.

I voted for Korver. The Jazz were so starved of a shooter, and their record since K-Snipe's acquisition is just gold.

I think Korver was a superb acquisition for the Jazz, they really needed a good 3 point shooter badly.

I knew I was forgetting someone. Funnily enough, I asked myself "Who was that guy the Suns got...?" but my memory is pretty screwy.

I'd hold off on Kurt Thomas until he actually plays a game for the Spurs.

Joe Smith, Luis Scola, and Posey are all contenders as well, can't believe I left them out.

Not sure how this is so close... isn't Utah like 19-3 since picking up Korver?

Beno Udrih deserves a mention- this guy has been great for us.

There is absolutely no question that the answer is Korver. Just look at Utah's record after the acquisition.

the jazz are on a roll, but i would say it's because of they got rid of a cancer in giricek, more than anything korver is doing.

To be fair, a player can be a cancer in the locker room, at practices, etc.

Although, I doubt there is any evidence that Giricek has been a cancer.

Giricek had fallen out of favor with Jazz coach Jerry Sloan after the two had a heated exchange during a timeout in a Dec. 19 game at Charlotte. The 6-foot-5 reserve guard was ordered to the locker room, was sent home for three games and never played again for the Jazz.
