Who wins the series?

Even with the extra home game, I think Denver wins in 6 or 7.

I don't think these two teams have even played yet this season.

I dunno, these two teams are just so inconsistent, but I'll pull through with Denver in the end.

Denver out-talents every team in the league but they don't know how to play consistently by any stretch of the imagination. If Denver focuses they'd sweep it. However, we live in the real world and these teams have had some decent games together.

Probably Denver in 5 or 6.

They just have really good talent up front to guard Bosh. K-Mart and Bosh are a really effective tag team against that type of player, I'd imagine.

Who does Toronto have to counter the 50-60 ppg that Denver would get from AI and Carmelo against that defense in this series?

AI would eat Calderon alive.. Denver would more than likely sweep the Raps..

Denver wins easy., We'd get killed on the boards. Toronto seems to have problems creating when teams really lock down on defense like in the playoffs, while Denver has no problem there. Ford might be able to do a good job staying in front of AI though, but still see it going 4-1.

I'm going with Denver. I just like the havoc that K-Mart and Melo would unleash around the basket. I think Camby also has the length to give Bosh trouble around the rim.

My 2 cents.

Point Guards: Jose can TJ make up arguably the best point guard tandem in the league. I'm not really clear on how the Nuggets play their point guard (as Iverson starts at SG, am I right?) If they start Carter at point, and sub him out for a SG like JR Smith and move Iverson to the point, I'd still say that Toronto has a suprerior point guard situation. When Iverson leaves the game and Carter checks in, the drop off would be very noticable, while often with Jose and TJ its the opposite, where if one if having a bad game, the guy off the bench could easily play better.

TJ + Jose > Iverson + Carter

Toronto gets dominated in SG and SF categories with Iverson/JR Smith/ Carmelo/Linas being just way better than Parker/Moon/Delfino/Kapono

Toronto wins the PF battle as Bosh > K-Mart and Najera. Add Barney who plays PF when Rasho or Primo is in the game. Better range, and Bosh can take you to the rack face up. Shakey defensively, but K-Mart and Najera are not big offensive threats. Not so sure how good of a defender K-Mart is, but I'm guessing he would be to slow for Bosh (due to all those surgeries). If Carmelo plays extensive mins at PF, this becomes a close contest.

I think its a tie in the C spot. I know, I know, Camby is a great defensive anchor (and those 10 point, 15 rebound, 8-10 block games are flithy), but Toronto has much more offense in this spot. Barney/Rasho/Hump/Primo all have outside range, meaning that they don't have to tangle with Camby down low (esp Barney). And Barney can light it up when he get hot. Again, Camby and friends are not big offensive threats but Toronto has a decent defensive bunch at the C spot with Rasho being nicely rounded and Barney being a good man defender. Basically, Denver has better D over here, but Toronto has better O.

The Bench: Kapono/Delfino/Hump/Rasho/Ford against JR Smith/Linas/Najera. Again with Ford and Delfino leading the Raptor bench going agianst Linas and JR, I would take the Raps bench. The great depth at PG and Delfino can be an absolute handful if its his night (same can be said of JR Smith). To break it down

Ford > Linas
Delfino > JR Smith [Factoring in defense, where Delfino is solid in, again, have little clue on JR's defensive abilitites. You don't see that on a high light reel.]
Hump/Rasho = or > Najera.

(I'm pretty ignorant about the roster they have at Denver, and all the players they have and what they really bring on the defensive side of the game (esp with Najera, JR and K-Mart) so I might be off on my ratings.)

Toronto grabs a contested PG advantage and have a healthy PF [tight advantage if Carmelo does indeed spend 22+ mins at the PF spot] and Bench advantage.

Denver strolls to a SG and SF advantage.

Tied at C.

Total advantage?

Denver. Too much at the SG and SF spots to handle despite Toronto having the upper hand in other places. Two of Toronto's weakest defensive spots are at the point guard and at the wings, and those are two of Denvers strongest offensive spots.
