Boston Celtics vs Detroit Pistons - If they meet for the Eastern Conference Finals, who wins?

They have the two top Records in the league and currently they are 1-1 against one another with both teams winning on the others home floor.

Boston has now Added Cassell and PJ Brown to the Roster and Detroit has added Theo Ratliff.

I'm gonna have to go with Detroit here. It'll be an exciting match up though. Adding Cassell was huge for the Celtics because he provides leadership and has this knack for winning, but the Pistons just have too much playoff experience together. When I think Pistons I think playoffs. They haven't looked this good since that one year they won the championship.

Either way, it's a match up to look forward to, unless King James single handedly turns into Jordan 10x again against either one of these teams in the semis.

Boston, too much star power imo

Boston, for all the experience Detroit has, we know they tend to think they can just "turn it on" when they hit the second round or conference finals. As demonstrated the last two seasons, they can be beaten by a less talented but hungrier opponent. As long as KG is on board, Boston is going to be the hungriest team in the league during the second season.

I'll take the Celtics in 7.

if this series goes 7 games with game seven being played in Boston, then i'd say Boston in 7

I understand everything going on in the regular season shows he can handle himself, but they are just going to let Rondo shoot all the perimeter shots he wants. When cassel is in they will let PJ or Perkins shoot.

Sam I am and Rondo won't be able to control Billups. Pierce would have to take this series and the entire playoffs over for Boston to win. I think this series is decided upon whether Billups or Pierce can take over games.

Perkins (or Powe/Big Baby) are usually next to the basket. So if another team lets them "shoot" that usually means they are open for a dunk which does happen a lot and Detroit suffered in the 2nd game when Big Baby exploded mostly on layups.

And teams already let Rondo shoot all the perimeter shots he wants. He can knock down some of them(40% Efg on jumpers up from 33% last year) and he can penetrate through the defense given a lot of space.

I'd take Boston in 7, but it really depends on how Rondo plays in the series. In the first game against Detroit, Rondo dominated the first half because he's so fast he can just get to the basket whenever he sets his mind to it. But in the second half he wilted and became passive, and at the same time Billups got hot and went off on him. If Rondo can step up and keep attacking during the playoffs, I'm pretty sure we'll take the series.
