Which one would you want on your team?

You are the General Manager of your favorite NBA team. You have the first pick in the up coming draft. You need both a Small Forward and power forward. Which one do you chose?

usually I would take the big men, except when he is the next Rasheed Wallace and refuses to play in the paint even though he would dominate there.

I would want to pick Carmelo, except my favorite team is the Knicks, and Carmelo would not be forgiven for running away from Nate Robinson and sucker-punching Mardy "thank goodness for guaranteed 1st round contracts or I would be playing basketball in Australia" Collins.

Melo clearly has more offensive skill, but at the same time, he also jacks up more bad shots. I'm sure I'm biased by being a Raps fan, but I'll take Bosh by a slim margin for his leadership, rebounding, and smarter play, even if he is a worse scorer than Melo.

I already have Bosh on my team but I think all teams that already have a legit number one scoring option should take Bosh instead. The reason is because Bosh is able to thrive as a defender and rebounder when he's not looked upon to score most of the points. I'm not saying he's incapable of being a first option, because he's doing a fine job of it right now, but he's able to focus more on other aspects of his game more, and those aspects happen to be two traits that people claim win championships.

This year Bosh is having the better statistical season by a decent margin (PER--Bosh-25.27 Anthony-20.68. But Carmelo seems like more of a #1 option down the stretch of games. Both are nothing special on defense but I think Bosh is better there.

On my tem I choose Bosh mostly because my teams constructed for him.

Definitely Melo, poll is pretty useless though because it'll just reflect the large fan base the Raptors have on here.

If youguys dont remember Carmello leading the Nuggets to the playoffs in his rookie season and should have been ROY if not for all the hype LeBron James got. Now James is the better player but the margin isnt as big as most think. LeBron is deffinitly gets his stats padded by the fact that he is on a team that has no other offense but himself. He also doesnt make his teammates a whole lot better, Carmello made his teammates better when Iverson wasnt there, I remember Iverson saying the other night when JR Smith hit like 5 3s in a game, the question was "what was your favorite JR Smith 3 pointer" his answer was "probably one that I passed him the ball because I got the assist" then he smiled and walked away, for me thats looked at as selfish, hes taking credit away from JR and pretty much says it doesnt matter which one as long as I was getting something out of it it was ok, sadly right now LeBron sort of seems like a player that wants to put up numbers and doesnt really make other players better but that also has a big part to do with that he doesnt have much talent next to him.

I would take Carmello Anthony pretty easily, he is a franchise player and is a top 3 scorer in the league along with Kobe and James, if we drafted him he never would have ran away from Nate or slapped Collins in the face.

Well I'm assuming you're going to agree because you have no argument against this. In the event when other players have stepped up when Bosh failed to do so (Ford, Bargnani, Calderon), he plays great defense and grabs a lot more boards than he usually does.

Eh, his defense is dependent on the check he is guarding. He's become a better defender than he was earlier in his career but he's still a guy who struggles against stronger, heavier defenders and most especially against power post guys. Now, if we're talking about primarily putting him on 4s, then yeah, that makes him a mediocre to acceptable defender because he's playing he's natural position.

But he's nothing like Rasheed Wallace, who's stronger and one of the best 4/5 defenders in the league. Of course, he's a better shooter and a much better rebounder because he doesn't focus on boxing out the way Sheed does.

I agree that his body structure still restricts him man to man, but as a help defender under the circumstance I've mentioned earlier he's played great help defense.

Oh yeah, he's rotating way better than he did earlier in his career, no question. But of primary significance is his inability to handle guys who are heavier than he. He's like the Steve Nash of Toronto in that sense, the guy who tries but just can't do it because of physical limitations. I hate watching him "guard" guys like Duncan or Garnett and such. I'm actually more comfortable with Rasho (no surprise) or Bargs on the bigger guys.

Now, if we could somehow combine Bargs and Bosh on defense...

Bosh, he's at least a decent defender. Melo is improving, but is still a key reason why the Nuggets' perimeter defense is very bad.
