Penny Hardaway might have sucked on the Heat but he was still way better than that crappy website.

I used to watch orlando a lot back in those shaq days (almost as much as I watched the Lakers) and I always felt Penny was slightly overrated by some. Damn good player on both sides of the ball, but not a superstar or anything.

70-80th All-Time

If there wasn't any injuries probably Top 30-40 All-Time.

yea was a memorable player cause he was great, but mostly its because of what it could have been and the commercials and shoes.

I think current guards like Kobe Bryant, Tracy McGrady, and Dwyane Wade have had better careers and were better at the peak of their careers.

His game disappeared for good when injuries took him down yet again in Phoenix. After that, I couldn't watch him without grimacing.

Let's not get carried away here, he's a career 15/5 guy.

You also must consider that Bill Walton is highly ranked despite being plagued with injuries for a majority of his career.

For nearly 10 years, he was solid. His averages became distorted in past few years because he tried holding on despite having a body that prevented him from doing so.

Maybe around 150.

I don't think he's in the top 100 at all. Using the 50 Greatest NBA Players of all-time list as a baseline, you would need to add Kobe, Duncan, KG, AI, Kidd, Nash, Reggie, and Dominique and you're almost at 60. I don't think Penny could be placed in one of the remaining 40 spots of the Top 100.

when he was on his game, there were few in the league that were better than him...and when Jordan was out, that list was real narrow...Penny was godly...it's a real shame that he suffered such horrible physical injuries and faded off into obscurity, he was a real talent...

If he wasn't hampered by injuries he would have been one of the best players that played the game especially him playing at the point guard position with his athleticism and skills....I dont know where to rank him because he was good early in his career and was clearly a different player after the injuries.

Even without the injuries, I would have had Glove over him at the 1. Sorry to burst your bubbles, but thats no slight on Penny.

Penny had all of Glove's skills and much more athleticism. There's no reason to say that Penny wouldn't have been better. IIRC Penny was also a pretty good defender.

Penny will always be one of my favorite players of all time. It is unfortunate for him to have experienced those career ending injuries. I'm not going to rank him just because he's one of my favorite players. I would say he is in the top 50. I have much respect for the 'NBA's 50 Greatest Players' but I do think he should actually replace a few. It's always hard to rank players. Especially when you are talking of all time.

In 2003, SLAM Magazine once ranked the Top 75 players of all time (http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=38461). Number 75 was Tracy McGrady, and Joe Dumars was not even listed. Penny would be one of the lowest entries in my Top 100, but he would make it.
