right along with Mahorn and Laimbeer. Bowen would have fit right in with the Bad Boy Pistons. Imagine if Bowen was magically swapped in for Dantley. Detroit's badass line-up would be:
B Laimbeer
R Mahorn
B Bowen
J Dumars
I Thomas
Coincidentally, teams would struggle to break double digits against that team. That is absolutely sick defensively.

ss_maverick While i agree about the bad boy lineup, i can't believe you didn't even mention Malone, Stockton, or Rodman! Whenever we hear dirty players I think we all expect these names to be mentioned.

The only reason Bowen is considered "dirty" is because the league today is so soft. 20 years ago, nobody would even be talking about Bowen's supposed "dirty" play.

Yeah they would. Bowen would adjust himself to be dirtier. He'd be fly kicking everyone.

I'm a big John Stockton fan and I will put John Stockton on the dirty list.

This is correct.
I am a Celtic fan and if Dumars was dirty I would know....now Bill Laimbeer...he was dirty...smart, but very dirty.

Indeed. Bowen is a very poor man's dirty player compared to players in the 60s, 70s, and 80s. I'd put him far below Laimbeer, Mahorn, Karl Malone, Stockton, Darryl Dawkins, Oakley, etc. Bowen does little cheap things, but how can you compare what he does today to, say, a Laimbeer or Malone, who routinely would elbow opponents in the face and get to the point where either punches were thrown or players had to be separated. Bowen is irritating--nothing more. He's probably not even as dirty as Michael Jordan was.

Stockton wasn't that dirty. The guy played in 1,500+ games and I can't think of a single player he ever hurt. You think that you would have hurt someone if you were a dirty player in that many games.
Of coruse, that depends on what one considers dirty. He certainly held on screens and set his elbows out on picks. But he wasn't in the same league as guys like Laimbeer or Malone.

Stockton was probably only slightly dirtier than Bowen. He did most of the same "pesky" things, but he used his elbows far more.

Bowen would probably be ranked no.2 in dirties players, but then he'd cheat and become number one
