As a Hornet, baring in mind Chris Paul's not even entering his prime yet, who was better as a Hornet. Baron Davis or Chris Paul? Bare in mind that at one point Baron Davis was just as huge an MVP Candidate on the Hornets that Chris Paul was that season he just exploded before he got injured the next year.

Baron was the best PG in the league at one point, but he was never as good as Paul is now.

I don't know. As I remember it, Baron took his Hornet team atop the west and was beasting it a few years ago, and everyone had him as the #1 MVP candidate at the time. But its not stretch to me to think that Paul might be even better and so much younger!

Baron was in the East...its nothing against Baron, he had his team atop, but Paul is having a historical season.

Of course, of course. I agree. But this thread was made more to show how forgotten that Baron Davis was. He gets props nowadays, but he was vastly underrated for a while.

offensivley i was SCARED facing baron davis b/c he was absoutely unstoppable when he wanted to....he had the strength and power to beat up little guys and was lethal from the 3...but i think cp3 is the better player...tough call i dont make sense so there

It's not even close to a tough call, Chris is better than Baron was at every facet of the game, except being stronger.

Chris has the best PER ever recorded by a PG, he's farrrrrrrr farrrrrrr more efficient as a scorer, and scores just as much, dishes the ball out much better, doesn't turn the ball over as much and brings his defensive intensity every game.

This is really insulting to Chris to be honest, Baron was about the most inefficient player I can remember, and he wasn't even that high in volume, and he brought his defense on rare occasions.

Baron was brilliant for stretches, but horrible shots, and lazy D really didn't help us much.

The best thing Baron ever did for us was tank it, which enabled us to draft Chris.

It's really sad that anyone even thinks this is a discussion.

i agree Paul is much better..

thats a bit harsh though on Bdiddy, the whole tanking part..he was pretty good the 2 years before..

Hes probably better now than he ever was, just shows how many ,ore good PGs there are now than before.

CP3 easily. B-Diddy was a supreme chucker with the Hornets.

Paul by far. I will never forget rookie Wade and a young Caron beasting those Hornets.

He did, he totally tanked it, it was so bad that he went from our franchise guy at the beginning of the season, to traded at the deadline for pennies, then he started playing well again.

It was a small injury, and he sat out a bunch of games, and played uninspired, crappy ball in the others.

Injuries hit, and Baron didn't want to step up, but rather whine about it.

Well its not quite that extreme, but Paul is clearly better than Baron ever was.

He definitely can. Have you seen Paul play this year?

Remember when Baron dropped back to back triple doubles and destroyed prime TMac, who nobody could stop? Baron made humiliated him like none before. Also, Baron nearly took NOK to the conference finals.

Also, Baron is stronger, more athletic, IMO a better ball handler, and more versatile player. Yes, he does chuck, but Paul's lack of size and strength is gonna hurt him in the end.

Until Paul lights it up in the playoffs against elite players like BD did, I'm sticking with the proven playoff performer.

If Baron is a better ball handler, why does he assist way less, yet turn the ball over more?

Baron has never been at this level, ever, never will. He has the talent to, but he won't maximize it.

Chris Paul, he is the best PG in the league, and he should be the MVP this year. Im not expecting him to win it, even though he is the most deserving candidate. Its either going to be Kobe or Lebron. Neither have done what Paul has done this year. Lebron is putting up gawdy numbers, and Kobe is in the dabet based off repuation, and team record.

But Chris Paul has just been unreal, he is everything you want in a PG, and he plays the position like it should be played. He is Steve Nash with superior defense.

You gotta go with Paul.

Baron was such a dynamic playmaker, but that came at the expense of consistency. You take Baron's A-game over Paul's A-game simply because Baron's A-game consists of him knocking down shots, which is his main knock. Also, Baron on his A-game is just a more dynamic playmaker.

However, how rarely does he have his A-game? Pretty rarely... Paul is extremely consistent, at an incredibly high level.

Well, if you look at them in terms of defense and shot-selection, Baron doesn't really compare at all.

As a playmaker, when Baron Davis sets his mind to it, he is undoubtedly one of the best in the league but he is questionable at best when it comes to his own offense and this has been true not just in Golden State but as a Hornet (though Nelson has done little to curb Davis' horrible tendency to chuck 3s).

Chris Paul is a much more dangerous player on account of his fairly consistent approach towards the offensive side of the game.

I don't think there's any legitimate way to say Davis >= Paul, most especially if we're discussing this season.

If you talk about Paul before now, you have at least a little leeway because his scoring ability wasn't at its current level but Paul is so clearly beyond Baron this year, there's nothing to be said in his defense (pardon the pun).

So yeah, Paul > Davis.
