Rafer Alston vs. TJ
Anyone think that they'd rather have Rafer Alston at the PG spot. Seeing TJ play, he looks very lax at times, he is kind of selfish. Sure, Rafer can be a head-case but he has a tremendous passion for the game, his performance is a key reason why Houston is doing quite well. I don't know about you guys, but I wouldn't mind seeing Alston over TJ, heck I bet he wouldn't even get caught up in the whole starting PG fiasco.
My name is Taiyab, and I realize there is an intra-team conflict at the Point Guard spot.

fairweather fans these days, its hilarious
Yes, mmhmm.
Looking back at Alston, he has been a 12 and 6 guy (more or less) his entire career. I don't see how I am a bandwagon jumper, TJ and Alston go hand-in-hand in my opinion. You think I started watching basketball yesterday?

Alston is as inconsistent as they come and always has been.
He is a nice player; obviously a skilled ball-handler and a solid playmaker, he's not as good a shooter as he thinks he is and that can sometimes be a problem.
Him versus TJ? I think Alston's a bit better as a defender but isn't nearly as good a dribble penetrator because he simply doesn't have the shot to overcome the fact that he isn't as athletic as Ford.
That said, I wouldn't mind having Rafer on our squad instead of TJ at this point, especially given the presence of Calderon (and this is, of course, a 180-degree reversal of my opinion from earlier this season because Jose has completely fed me a steady diet of crow).
Alston was pretty solid for us when he was a Raptor and he's had his success in various ways during his different stops.
I think Ford is more talented than he and perhaps the better choice if you're looking for a starter but Alston has some traits that make him a more attractive choice in some situations.

Even mediocre TJ is better than good Rafer (over a period of a few games, not Skip's occasional 30 point blow-up). Statistically, there's no comparison...and from watching both on the Raptors, Rafer wins the 'most likely to give me thoughts of holding my head in a pot of scalding water' comparison by about a 3:1 ratio.

**** your asterisk.

Compare the stats of the two for the past 3-4 years, nearly identical.

Yes, let's make a post about this when TJ is playing some of the worst basketball in his career after coming back from an injury..(not to mention having a different role coming off of the bench) and Alston is playing the best he has ever played.
Yes, perfect time to make a comparison. Is this a joke?
