Usually it's harder for big men to dominate down the stretch offensily like gaurds. So, who's the best big man in the crunch

Amare offensively, Duncan for everything else.

A perimeter big man like Dirk is the best bet if you need a final bucket.

Duncan wouldn't be so bad, but he's missed more than his share of clutch FT's. His D and rebounding is there, and maybe you can get it to him in the post.

Garnett is a good choice, he's hit game winning jump shots, he can create his own shot or for others, plays D, rebounds and hits his FT's. Not a bad choice, because you can run the ball through him, and he's such a dangerous passer that anyone could get the last shot, and that guy could be wide open.

Amare Stoudemire is another really good choice because he can create his own shot, and aggressively attack the rim and sink his FT's.

Bottom line, it's easier with a guy who can create for himself to score, but I'd rather have a Manu type guy, and have the guy who is the better player during the first 46 minutes of the game, than have to rely on a big to hit shots down the stretch. I'd rather seal more victories earlier in games, or have a TD or Garnett to stifle the other sides offense down the stretch.

I guess I'd rather find guards that are my closers, and have a big man anchor the post on both ends, than have a perimeter big as my closer, and try to build a supporting cast that is dominant defensively.

That's actually a good point, David has hit a fair share of game winners, he always hits big buckets down the stretch, and I remember 2 blocks on potential game winners at least.

David has issues when he hesitates on his jumper, if he pumps first, he's a 0% shooter, if he just shoots, he's great. Depends on matchup on whether he will be effective off the dribble, but we like the high screen and roll with chris paul with a shooter in the corner for our final play.

KG is the best bet as of right now along with Amare and Duncan. Dirk would be perfect with his shooting range, but I have nothing to see from him yet, its a damn shame to see him choke, he did it the other night against the Lakers, when they had there come back and could of clearly tied. But as of right now KG, Amare, and Duncan are the clear winners.

Why is everyone saying KG? From everything that i have seen, he is far from clutch.

KG vs Dirk last BOS/DAL game when the game was tight for the last 6 minutes of the game.

Dirk: 0-5 fg 3 turnovers 2-2FT
KG: 1-7 fg 2-2FT


For Dirk that's 8 blown plays. 8 of his teams plays blown in the fourth of a tightly contested game. KG only blew 6 of them. Half of both of these guys attempts were 17 feet away from the basket... they rely to much on beign in or out of a zone when shooting in the clutch.. that game they were both out.

Now of course that's just one game, but I figured it was timely to show y'all. In crunch time I'll stick with my bigs that stay in the post. A free throw or an offensive rebound can be just as big for your TEAM. And I consider them clutch.

You don't see many fast breaks ran against you off of made or missed free throws, you can see those happen off of blow 15 footers.

So give me Yao or Duncan [one for FT% and the other for passing. Both for rebounding potential and defensive potential]

Oh for those that get to watch ORL games, what about D-12. His stats are there, but I know they delegate to Hedo in the clutch [rightfully so]. I just don't know if can be relied upon enough to not make a stupid offensive foul in the clutch or have his FT promblems act up in the cluth.

Statstically speaking though it looks like he'd be a great big to have by what I look for [rebounding,drawing fouls,defense]

did u see the pass he was thrown? not exactly easy for a 7 footer to catch a pass at his ankle, he pretty much had to throw up a shot. and why exactly did the mavs have a chance to tie it in the 1st place? the answer if you were paying attention is dirk.

Back in Chicago, Chandler, the year before his last, was a beast in the clutch defensively and as a rebounder. He'd grab a lot of big rebounds and I could remember at least 4 distinct cases of him blocking a potential game winner or game tier.

Dwight is not much of a clutch scorer compared to other star big men.
