If you were starting an expansion team and you chould choose any one team, and take any two players from that one team, who would you choose and why?

I'd have to go with Boozer and Williams--a young low-post presence with a respectable jumpshot and an even younger physical point guard with great passing instincts? Okay.
While I'm of the Paul > Williams camp, I think that the tandem of Boozer and Williams is far superior to Paul and West.

Call me a homer, but I'll take Dwight and either Turk or Rashard. Dwight is the future along with LeBron, and Dwight has the better 2nd fiddle.

Well, I'll start the bidding...
Here are the couplets I'm considering
Deron and Boozer
Oden and Roy
Howard and Rashard
Paul and Chandler
I'd ideally like to get a PG and a center. So, New Orleans is a strong candidate. But, I'd also like a star big to build around, so Orlando and Portland are there. But, Utah seems to offer the best overall balance while getting me that star PG I'd like.
It's a tough one for me. But, I think I'll go with Paul and Chandler and lock up my PG and C positions.

Derron & Boozer.

I'd take Kobe and Bynum. You get the savy veteran, and the up and coming young big man.

Either Manu and Duncan, KobeGasol, or Pierce and KG.

TJ Ford and Bargnani... the best duo in the league, hands down.. the opposition can never tell what these two will do next..

Same here. I'd rather build my team around a dominant big and a supporting perimeter player, instead of the other way around.

I'll go with Oden and Roy, and take my chances, if starting a hypothetical expansion team, that Oden becomes close to what he is supposed to be.

Deron and Boozer, because they are top players at their positions, and They complement each other very well

Aldridge and Roy.
Yes I'm being a homer, but a hypothetical twin tower set up for the next 5-10 years is nice looking

Kobe and Bynum. Win now and later.

I'm a Jazz fan and don't want to make a homer pick. But i'm surprised no Yao/Tmac, Parker/Duncan, Manu/Duncan, Kobe/Gasol, Bosh/Calderon, or Arenas/Jamison?

Well, it is an expansion team. You're probably not going to see a lot of folks targeting players close to their downside.
Take Manu/Duncan, you might have 3-4 great years, but without Popavich and the supporting cast they have assembled there in SA you might not be good enough to win it all. So, you'd have 3-4 very good years then right into rebuild mode.
Where if you go with a player like a Dwight Howard you've got 10-12 years ahead of you.

Dwight and 'Shard.
You can probably get some high draft picks (being an expansion team and all) to fill out the 1-2-4.

If I'm starting a franchise from scratch, I'd want at least one young super-star, and the other player must be under 30, since the team probably won't be ready to compete for 3ish years. Because of that, I'm gonna avoid combo's like TD + Manu, KG + Pierce, and Kobe + Gasol. I'd be extremely happy with any of:
Kobe + Bynum (assuming his knee is fine)
Paul + West
Paul + Chandler
Deron + Boozer
LeBron + anyone (Varejao? Man the Cavs suck outside of LeBron)
Dwight + Hedo
Dwight + Shard
Oden + Roy (once again, assuming the knee is fine)
Oden + Aldridge
At the end of the day, I might just take LeBron + Varejao. Obviously Varejao sucks compared to the other second fiddle players (although a young big who can rebound and play d is not useless), but to me, there is nobody below 29 who is particularly close to LeBron. Dwight and Paul are great, but on the right team, LeBron has the potential to be the GOAT. Would you pass up on Michael Jordan for Stockton and Malone?
