similar to the espn 23 an under question. which of these two players would you choose as the foundation of your team?

being the lakers homer that i am, i have to go with andrew bynum. he's a legitimate back to the basket paint protecting center. he's 3 years younger. he's already a top rebounder and shot blocker. he's shown he has the work ethic. roy, although more proven, is not, and probably won't be, an elite guard. usually if one is building around a guard he better be elite. bynum has the injury concern but roy hasn't been the healthiest player either.

thoughts?

i would take bynum as my team's foundation simply because you need a good center to win a championship

andrew bynum hes a stud, and he can impact the game in so many ways.

At this point I'd take Roy. I want to see Bynum come back from the injury and show he can rebound and defend as he was. Also show more offense and to do both consistently (he basically played at a high level for less than half a season up to this point)

i agree that injury is probably the main reason someone wouldn't take bynum. he's scheduled back very soon and honestly it shouldn't be THAT much of a concern. players are having microfracture surgery and playing excellent. his injury def. didn't approach that type of severity.

Assuming the knee is fine, Bynum. He definitely has the potential to be a dominant center on the defensive and offensive end, and players like that are just too rare and too important to the team to pass up. He's already the second best C in the league under 25 (after Dwight, and not counting Oden since we haven't seen him play in the NBA yet), and he's only 20.

I don't really think this is that great of a comparison, just about everyone would take the much younger player who plays a position that is hard to find good talent.

Spot on. Strong center prospects are very rare, and Roy, while he has amazingly good decision-making abilities and polish in his game for his age, is a kind of player that is easier to find.

I agree not a good choice for comparison...Try bynum and another up and coming bigman or a young up and coming point guard,that would probably be a good comparison.

I go against popular choice and take the SG / PG who is a leader, makes his team mates better, and was an all star in his 2nd year over the center who's played less than 1 half of good basketball in his 3 year career.

i go with roy. he's the sure thing, and not as in emeka okafor but as in allen iverson.

Bynum, because it is impossible for anyone to name an elite center who's career has ended in the past 20 years that did not win a championship besides Ewing. Plus I don't like Roy on a team with a pure PG.

The Blazers without Roy are worse than the Blazers without Oden.

Tough decision here.

I'd probably lean towards Roy, because Bynum is a #2 option.

A better question would be Oden vs. Bynum.

As said, I'll take the younger guy at a position thats harder to fill, who isn't a slouch himself.

Roy is great and quite obviously the better player right now, but I'd still take Bynum.
