Both up and comers in the NBA. Who is the better up and comer, and who has a brighter future?

[I'm tempted to say "excluding Oden", because I feel it would make this too lopsided, but you can't really say that if you are talking about the future, as Oden is the future of the Blazers.]

Portland easily...I have been impressed how they are run as an organization and how stack they are in every position...

Portland easy. There are a handful of teams in the East that have brighter futures than the Hawks too.

To be fair, we're not stacked at every position. We need to upgrade our PG and SF positions, mainly the PG. Jack isn't working out in our offense and while were mostly satisfied with Blake, we just see him a good back up to have instead of a starter.

How so without Oden? Anyways, on paper Portland has a brighter future than most teams. Definitely any team in the East.

What i meant was the blazers have many capable players of playing in every position...jack,blake or rodriguez might not be the best but are very capable in handling that position..at sf you can either switch outlaw, webster, roy or fernandez. And they still have a good pick this year that would help their problems may it be they draft it or trade the pick.

Definitely, Portland will have a lot of assets to use to upgrade those positions.

Hawks have 2nd brightest future in the league to Portland among young teams.

Im curious who these numerous rosters in the Eastern Conference composed with better young talent.

Yeah but the Hawks don't have interchangeable parts?

Joe Johnson, Marvin Williams, Josh Smith, and Al Horford can all play multiple positions on the floor.

Is it coincidence that almost the whole team is able to play SF ?

Well im curious how they handle their expiring contracts this offseason , their management has proven not to be very good on many occasions so ATL having a bright future is not guaranteed .

The management could still screw it.

thats gotta be one of the biggest differences when considering which team has a brighter future. Having good young players is only part of the picture, having good management to shape the roster, good ownership to pay for keeping good players and bringing in talent in deals that might cost extra money and having a coach that can get the most out of the players they have. I gotta say Portland has a massive advantage in all those departments.

I'm sure every team has 3 or 4 guys who could play SF. Not sure what the big deal is.

At first glance, it's easily Portland but lets not forget the x-factor: The Atlanta scorekeepers.

Homer pick in me is portland.

However, Atlanta, imo, will be an EC contender for years to come. They have just about every position set. All they really need is either a legit SF (they have a ton of them, but not one real legit one) or a center, which would allow their C and PF atm to slide down a slot and play at their natural positions.

I think it'll be them and Orlando (maybe Miami if they keep Wade and Marion (or another good player in his stead) and a top 2 pick from this year coming out of the east in a few years

Since they have helped us in one game last year (a game where we still had the advantage). Good thing Hawk fans don't get as upset about officiating because I'm not sure any team gets less calls than we do.

Blazers, better team, better record (I think), without their possible best player, better future, classier players

the blazers kill us everytime we play so i'll say its them. it's one thing to draft athletic players. it's another to draft athletic players that are at least 6'10" across the board on the frontcourt. we having found an answer for lamarcus aldridge in over two years and it's going to get worse when oden comes. also, roy plays joe on equal footing. the blazers did a very good job rebuilding after failing the first time.
