I guess he could but I don't understand all this talk about a guy who, right now, has only led his team to 50+ wins. Yes, a historic season as well but TMac had a historic season earlier this decade and is he better than Clyde or Zeke?

22 is way too young to be doing this. Think fast: Will OJ Mayo be better than Nique? Will some kid playing great in high school be better than Fat Lever? What's the point of this?

Thomas? Conceivable, but not Frazier. Frazier is the all-time gold standard for point guards.

Why is this even being talked about about a kid only in his 2nd year in the league who has never smelled the playoffs yet?

You really know nothing about the NBA do you?

JK JK.

But it seems to be that not only is Isiah more highly reguarded on this board but my most supposed experts on the NBA. I share the sentiment.

Finally I get why you think all modern players are only 2/3rds of any player from the past. It all makes sense to me now.

To the contrary I do, and that's why I pick Frazier over Thomas, who would predictably be the kneejerk "obvious" choice of less knowledgeable fans. Thomas was a very good player and deserves the honors he received, but Frazier was at least as good as Thomas in every phase of the game and significantly better in many, especially defensively.

Paul is arguably better than Clyde & Zeke were at their peak right now. OJ Mayo isn't even as good as some other guards in college who aren't expected to be stars in the pros right now. There's really no comparsion here.

Well when we did our Top 100 of all time project on this board, Frazier was above Thomas. I share that sentiment.

I'm pretty sure he can smell them right now.

Its conceivable to me that he passes both up, but yeah, we shouldn't be talking about it right now, he has too much ground to cover up.

Also- Paul's in his 3rd year.

Do you REALLY think so, apparently without taking into account defense and team success? :-(

This same debate came up with Kenny Anderson. Im not holding my breath.

Paul does remind me of Isiah just not as good on defense and lacks the range.

The thing about Isiah is that he had alot of 2-14 in the 1st half but make his last 10 shots in the 4th. He could get you down by 20 and he could bring you back.

I really don't understand why you would think that's strange. Paul could easily win MVP this year, Frazier and Isiah were never even strong contenders. To do so Paul would have to win over Kobe and LeBron, two guys who'd be tough to beat in any era.

I'm not going to say you're unreasonable for disagreeing with Paul being better, but that it's within the realm of debate is obvious.

I'm curious, if this same thread were made about Kobe would you be saying the same thing? If not, do you really believe Kobe is that far ahead of Paul?

Both Deron Williams and Chris Paul will be better than Frazier and Isiah Thomas. They will do throught their career with much much less and from small markets.

I say this of course if there is no major injuries or many small injuries plaguing them.

Not quite. I hate to defend Isiah on anything, but the exact quote was:

Isiah Thomas paid Paul, 22, the ultimate compliment earlier this season, telling Hornets assistant Darrell Walker, an old Pistons teammate, "I don't know whether I was that good when I was his age."

This was in the SI issue with Dale Jr. on the cover.
