OK they are not young... but would you prefer to have Okur (you can't teach height) or Turkoglu (can you teach versatility?)...

Shooting big man makes the game easier for everyone.

An all around forward... we have a lot of those.

Both of them are clutch, but the championship behind Mehmet, the better career overall, and also the fact that he can stretch the defense so much is testament to Okur's legacy as the best Turkish player of all time.

i thought i had some craptastic posts, but I have been reading some horrible posts made from the guy above me recently.


Turk's season this year is better than Okur's entire career. Okur didn't do much for the Pistons championship anyway. He put up like David Lee numbers when he was on the Pistons except he shot 3s and couldn't rebound.

I take Hedo. I was waiting for him to finally get enough PT to show off his skills and it happened in Orlando.


Okur honestly is one of the most overrated players in the league. Hedo is basically better at every aspect of the game compared to Okur. Besides rebounding since Okur is a PF and Hedo is a SF, I don't see one area Okur has an advantage in.

Seriously what area of the game is Okur better at? Outside shooting, nope...

I mean unless you are desperate for a defensive liability at the PF position, I don't know why you would pick Okur over Turk.

Okur is a lockdown defender when he has assignments like Howard, Duncan, or Ming.

Okur can actually take it inside, and it is an extremely underated passer.

Okur has actually been to the All-Star game. I thought Hedo should have gone this year too.

Okur had a terrible showing since last year after the All-Star. But this year since the All-Star game, he is putting numbers that Make Hedo tremble. Even in effiency, this off year by Okur, he is still only a couple of efficiency points down Hedo.

Hedo is close, but no cigar.

Hedo. You can't even say that you can't teach height because Okur is only an inch taller than Turkoglu. Turkoglu is capable of playing PF also imo. If Radmanovic could, Turk could also.

LOL at Okur being a lockdown defender.

I wouldn't call him "lockdown", but he's actually much better than I thought he would be when I watched the Spurs series last year..

I think is point was Okur is normal sized for a center, and Hedo is huge for a wing. The way Hedo handles and passes at his height is amazing. He has played PG for Orlando this year and he is 6 freaking 10.

Good point... its a tough choice between the two not only because they play different positions but because they bring different qualities to their teams. Okur is talented big man who can play PF/C and has "incredible" range & touch. On the other side the things Hedo can do are rare even in the NBA. The guy can take over the point & swing over to play PF at times. Both have made some clutch shots...no seperation there.

If we go on work ethic although Hedo is probably above average Okur gets my vote.

If we go on pure talent Hedo is the man. Considering that he started (next year will be better) to show his potential I have to go with Hedo.

Point made, he really isn't the greatest defender.

But for some strange a$$ reason, it changes on the playoffs. He trains and learns the moves of his opponents, and he actually becomes a lockdown defender, and a very scary one.

Just look at Ming's number during our series. They counted that he would be able to solely defeat Utah on the inside, and when Carlos was guarding him was almost a sure point. But Yao Ming averaged 4.71 TO and for a Center of his amazing dominance in the paint, he was averaging .440 FG%

Only 20% of the Game 7s have been won by the road team, and Utah won the series thanks to Okur.

Believe it or not, just like the Spurs fan said earlier, Okur did actually pretty well against Duncan.

Yes, I will accept I am slightly biased, but I think that Mehmet Okur is very underrated, and his dominance was very much undermined by his non-existent offensive performance during the playoffs. But the guy has had one fluke year period, and remember that the year before he went to the All-Star. This year we will mark it off the calendar because of his terrible start, but Okur is definitely better than Camby.

By the way, those of you who pretend Hedo Turkoglu defines clutchness, I think that Hedo this year has had three game winning field goals, please magic fans correct me if I am wrong. Either way, last year, Mehmet Okur had 7 game winning field goals, and 1 game winning block shot. Plus, it was his daggers during the wanning moments of the Game 7 in Houston that Utah was able to deliver the upset.

Give me Hedo. Okur's lack of shot-blocking as a C hurts his team, and his post-game is OK but nothing special. I'd rather have my small guys shoot 3s and my big guys under the basket. Hedo is also having a much better season (19.6/5.8/4.9 vs. 13.4/7.1/1.7).
