Rudy Fernandez

Post#1 » by bgwizarfan » Mon Apr 14, 2008 6:25 am

I'm trying to learn about Rudy Fernandez's game.... is he closer to a slashing swingman or a point guard? And how good is he projected to be. For instance, Wilson Chandler has been playing really well for the Knicks recently and he was selected 23rd overall in the 2007 draft - should they have taken Rudy Fernandez , who went 24th, instead? Obviously it's way too early to tell, but what kind of legit player could he potentially be in the NBA? I've never seen him play at all and am trying to learn more about him

From what I've seen he is much more of a SG than a PG, is a decent slasher, but will probably rely more on his off the dribble jumper in the NBA. He reminds me a lot of a slower Kevin Martin.
In terms of potential, like all Euros he's tough to project, but my feeling is his absolute upside is around 15-18 ppg, 3-4 apg, though obviously he could end up being nowhere close to that good.

Scouts compare him to a thinner, quicker Manu Ginobli.

Manu is/was a way better slasher... he was also quicker than Rudy... the spanish is a better 3p shooter at this point but i don't think he'll ever be as good as Manu.

Euro-league MVP

No, he's not the Euroleague MVP... not yet.
