One is a SG; the other, a SF. But the similarities of these two swingmen are striking, from a statistical standpoint.

Both are averaging 23/4/3/1 this year, on fairly similar %'s.

Richard is younger and on a smaller contract, while Michael has the rarer and more desirable skill set.

Which do you choose, and why?

Definitely RJ.

Redd is the better shooter, but that's all I'll give him.

Redd maybe the best shooter in the league behind Ray Allen but its streaky as hell.

Redd is a fairly selfish player, and I question whether he could ever be a key player on a contending team. Redd is clearly the better shooter, but RJ is pretty much better at everything else. Injury-wise, RJ played 2 more games last year, and 10 more games this year, so it's roughly tied, with maybe a slight edge to RJ. Add in the fact that RJ is 2 years younger and makes $3 mil less per season (both are under contract for 3 more seasons) and it's pretty clear that RJ has more trade value.

they're both suited to be #2 options on average teams..both semi 1-D, neither is a great defender..although RJ isn't bad, Redd is actually pretty bad..Redd also seems egotistical and selfish..Jefferson hasn't really had any concerns in that way..both guys take questionable shots and have selfish mentalities ON THE COURT..

Jefferson is a great #3 option on a great team, as he's shown before..#2 option on an average team, like he was this year with the Nets..

Redd could be a #2 option on a good East team, but I don't know if he would accept the role of a #2 option..I don't think his playing style would suit it..

As far as ego is concerned, they seem to be mirror images.

On the court, Redd can't help but be self-serving and "me-first", even though he has worked to become more of a passer. Off-court, though, he seems very down to earth. RJ, however, has been known to shoot his mouth off in the papers. But when it's time to lace 'em up, he plays the game unselfishly and rarely forces the issue.

Redd's shooting is enticing in San Antonio, but we are in dire need of an athletic swingman (preferably a 3) who can defend. I take RJ.

lol RJ was slackin on D late maybe just because the nets knew their season was a joke at the end of the year but bah.

RJ takes the cake hes just about better in every aspect of the game besides shooting, and even then i think RJ has a really good mid range shot.

Wow...I'm really surprised at the result of the deal. Personally, I'm an RJ fan. But I never expected people to take him over Redd.

BTW, I think both are suited for a #2 role on a good-great team. RJ wasn't the #2 on an average team, he was the #1 on an average team...like this year's Nets. Carter really didn't turn it on until after the Kidd deal. They took roughly the same amount of shots, Carter had more assists, but RJ went to the line more.

In fact, I think Jefferson would be a good compliment with Kidd again now that he's in Dallas with Dirk.

well I was considering RJ's role when VC was trying..Carter was the main ball handler post-Kidd, so I consider him to be the #1..especially since he looked like their best player in most of those games..

I'd take RJ as well. Redd is a great shooter but Jefferson has more balance to his game.
