This stems from a Philly fan claiming that Andre Miller is greater than or equal to Chauncey Billups, who is an inferior passer, defender, post up player, and midrange shooter to Andre Miller.

It's weird the level of praise Miller's getting now. He is a great player, but I don't really have a problem with the fact that he's never been considered worthy of all-star status.

I am asking you to compare Detroit Piston Chauncey Billups to his first round, Eastern Conference playoff counterpart, Philadelphia 76er Andre Miller.

Jesus Christ, Billups is having his best season EVER, arguably. I mean, no one pays attention to this cat, but that's because he plays on a boring team and he isn't exciting.

Nate33, could you PLEASE post your pace-adjusted PER40's for Billups vs. pretty much every other point guard to show how dominant he's been this year?

They've limited his minutes, and that's made him more rested, and able to pace himself better, and he's scoring at a fantastic rate with fantastic efficiency.

Other than maybe his 05-06 season, the guy's playing the best ball of his life, statistically.

Andre Miller is nothing to scoff at, but at night, he dreams of being Chauncey Billups.

To Miller's credit, he was the pure PG I wanted the Pistons to acquire when Chauncey signed here as a free agent (I didn't believe Billups was starting caliber). I wanted Chauncey to be a super-sub combo-guard, playing behind Andre and Rip Hamilton.

Miller's a good player. He's just not Chauncey good. Then again, Chauncey wasn't Chauncey when you guys first signed him.

I hate the pistons and believe they as a team are overrated. However, taking my horribly negative bias against them out of the equation, that core 4 players are really good, both as individuals and as a team. Billups is clutch (i hate that he is), hits the three in many situations (on the break, pick-n-roll, when offense stagnates, catch and shoot, and being set up by others.) hes really good in the post, and though isnt the most creative passer, is efficient and makes good decisions. Something that goes unnoticed is his recognition of when some body on his team is hot or has a mismatch. He gets them the ball in these situations. Also good all aorund shooter and free throw shooter. decent defender as well and plays physical.

I think Miller is underrated though. He's a more creative passer than billups, and prbably just as good a scorer in the mid range and post areas. Hes also a pretty decent defender. He gets his teammates involved very well. He orchestrates the fast break well.

Overall, Ill take Billups. I think he can score in more ways, spreads the defense out, plays physical, and has a high iq. They shouldn't switch teams though. Billups, the more cerebral floor general is good for the pistons disciplined offense, while miller can keep all the young, atheltic scorers happy and fastbreak with them on the 76ers.

Miller averages the same points? Well he should, he plays 4.5 more minutes and has way $hittier teammates than Billups. Has much higher %, well **** he should have cause Billups actually shoots and makes threes. Shooting 40% from threes might have something to do with Billups' overall percentage.

Now talk about whose stats are better. Why don't you talk about how Miller is dismal at threes, pretty bad ft shooter for a pg, doesn't have a Finals MVP, isn't a 3 time all star, is nowhere near as clutch as Billups, his team is 1st round fodder. Billups has delivered in more pressure situations than Miller can even dream to be a part of. Miller plays better defense? Common sense says otherwise. Miller is a much better post up player? Now I think you've never seen Billups play and are just blinded by Millers breakout season (which as you can see, isn't even as good as Billups' average season).

LOL at this, Miller isn't close to Chauncey, I'm not sure there is anything he actually does better than Chauncey, and no physical skills that he could exploit over Chauncey.....

Miller has THE best lob pass in basketball (now that Van Exel is retired), but i agree Chauncey is way much better player.

Chauncey is a <I am puking right now> preposteorously underrated defender. He can post up better than Miller, better 3 point shooter than Miller, far more clutch. And he has actually won championships, and has the experience.

The question is... are these two even close to Deron Williams and Chris Paul?

neither chauncey or miller are on the level of deron or paul. they are great but paul should be the mvp of the league.


and miller is the 2nd best pg in the east......behind chauncey billups. it's pretty clear the winner of this one.

Andre Miller is starting to become one of the most overrated players in the league IMO ever since that push to make the east playoffs

Gilbert Arenas?
Devin Harris, Mo Williams, and Jose Calderon make it tougher for Miller, as well.

Then the answer is, yes, Chauncey is close to Deron and Chris. I actually have Chauncey on my All-NBA 2nd team pretty easily ahead of Deron.

IMO Deron Williams has, without question, had a better season than Chauncey and I think he's a better player.
