Just as the title says, a team of players who distinguished themselves this season as very efficient scorers, against a team of defensive-minded guys who can score...but will miss quite a few shots along the way.

All-Efficient

PG: Jose Calderon
SG: Kevin Martin
SF: Mike Miller
PF: Rashard Lewis
C: Pau Gasol

All-Defensive

PG: Kirk Hinrich
SG: Ron Artest
SF: Josh Smith
PF: Jermaine O'Neal
C: Marcus Camby

Which style wins out?

In general, defense.

But when you put FIVE efficient scorers together, that might tip things.

The problem is the passing on that efficient team isn't great. Calderon is good, as is Gasol, the rest are nothing to right home about. Also Martin, Maggette, and Lewis all play the exact same position.

Agreed; I was trying to find someone other than Maggette to fill that spot, but it was difficult to do without creating a major disparity in talent. Mike Miller may have been a better choice, as he is much better off the ball and a decent passer. In fact, I think that I'll sub him for Maggette.

The defensive team would probably win because most of those players could score as well.

Good offense beats good defense.

agreed.. especially since a couple of the efficient guys play 0 defense.

make the defense team filled with guys like Ben Wallace and Bruce Bowen and this would be more interesting.

How about Amare? im not sure if he is efficient this season but i think he has a good fg percentage...

Defensive guys would be a lot more efficient playing against that team.

The defensive team also has a size advantage against the efficient team. How are Mike Miller and Kevin Martin supposed to guard Artest and Josh Smith?

Yeah, where is Amare? Amare is one of the most efficient player today. He is the only player in the top 10 in scoring (Except Martin) who is averaging 23+ with only 15 shot attempted....

There is no shooting or playmaking on the defensive team. Who is a consistant threat from outside? The all efficient team has 5 great shooters and the best big man of both teams. I'd take the all efficient team in a 7 game series.

Amare was originally on the All-Efficient club, but I thought that his inclusion would imbalance the two teams, so I left him off.

That's my thought; the defensive team would dominate the glass, but would have difficulty getting easy baskets. Over the course of seven games, I would expect the All-Efficient team to win...but just barely.

pg: ellis
sg: martin
sf: im not sure pick any efficient sf
pf: amare
c: gasol

That i can see can cause several problems against the all defensive team...

Ellis (a) isn't as efficient as Calderson, (b) isn't a PG, (c) plays good defense so not as good a choice; Amare would fit but OP thought he was too good and would dominate this matchup.

With his lineup he even placed lewis as a pf,i know that he plays pf for the magic while the same can be said to monta where he plays point when baron sits. And monta's D is not really that good as well so i think he can be considered with this lineup. But if the lineup was at it is then the defensive team would win.

...against that defense?

the defensive team would kill the offense when it comes to rebounding and i think it'd be by a huge margin especially with rashard against JO, even if i think JO has always been overrated.

i have to take the defensive team, if you put amare or a traditional PF out there it might tip the scale a little

I think the defensive team would win in six. I think if JO plays like he should and Artest and Smith take advantage of their mismatches then they should be able to put points on the scoreboard. A Smith, JO and Camby frontcourt should be absolutely terrifying defensively and severely cut the points in the paint of the other team in half. Block party.
