The past 3-4 years it seems these teams have met in the playoffs.

In 2006 the Cavs won 4-2 against the Wizards and last year they won 4-0 (Butler and Arenas injured). This year they are leading 2-1.

In 2005 Spurs won 4-1 over Suns, in 2007 they won 4-2 over and this year they are leading 3-0 over them.

Which Team Owns the other more? Cavs over Wizards or Spurs over Suns in the playoffs?


I have to say the Spurs over the Suns. The Suns lost 2 series against the Spurs where the Suns had the homecourt and the Suns won 61 and 62 games those years as well. Now they are close to getting swept.
With the Wizards its obvious the Cavs have owned them as well but at least the Cavs have had the homecourt each time which means they should have been the team winning the series.

If the Spurs close the deal this year it'll be the 4th time they've eliminated the Suns in their last 5 trips to the playoffs(Mavs got 'em in '06).

Spurs vs Suns in the playoffs over the past five years:

2003: 4-2 Spurs
2005: 4-1 Spurs
2007: 4-2 Spurs
2008: 3-0 Spurs(so far)

Total: 15-5

The first Cavs/Wizards series was one of the best series of the 1st round (and certainly the best in the East). It didn't go 7, but there were 4 games, IIRC, that were decided by like 1 point. That's not ownage, even though the Cavs came through in the end.

In the series last year, Washington was missing both Arenas and Butler. As much as it seems wrong, you simply have to throw that series out of the window because trying to take anything from it is absurd. Without Arenas and Butler, Washington is the worst team in the NBA. If the Cavs didn't sweep us last year then there would have been something wrong with them.

This year, it's 2-1 Cavs, and with a win tomorrow, tied.

I don't see much ownage here -- rather, two teams that are surprisingly evenly matched.

Definitely Spurs over Suns.

If Cavs can beat WIZ this year we can say that they own the WIZ but right now the difference is not that much.

Cavs and Wizards are two average teams having close games with the Cavs usually coming out on top. No real ownage and nothing like what the Spurs have done to the Suns who are considered a top team each year.

The Cavs own an injured Wizards team but not a healthy Wizards team.

Spurs over Suns... At least the Wizards made it a series and haven't gotten so much owned.

No. The series ended 4-2 with the Wizards having one game blatantly stolen from them by the refs when Lebron clearly took 4 steps before shooting the game winner.

Make one obvious call and the Wizards could have won the series.

And like miller31time said, the sweep last year can be completely ignored. Take Lebron and Z away from the Cavs and let the Wizards play at full strength and watch how quickly the Wizards sweep the Cavs.

Basically, if you correct for the horrible call by the refs two years ago and you ignore the insurmountable injuries last year, the Cavs/Wizards playoff record is 5-4 in favor of the Cavs. That's hardly ownage.

If the circumstances were reversed, I'd love to see how long Cavs fans would go without making the same points.

I was surprised that our series went to 6. They stole the first game from us with a lucky Marbury 3, but I have no idea how the series dragged on to 6. We were the 1st seed tied with the best record with Dallas IIRC.
