Who would you want to start your franchise with(all players start out as rookies).

In their primes, I'll take the Shaq/McGrady side quite easily.
However, it would be worth considering that Shaq and McGrady have had relatively injury prone careers, whereas Kobe and Dwight are iron men.

Tmac's one dominant year was as good as any of Kobe
and Shaq as a rookie, is arguable better than Dwight right now. Certainly as a soph

uhhhhhh Kobe >>>>>> Tmac. Dwight >Shaq. Both on both ends.
I mean Tmac and Yao gets bounced in first round and still pick those? Hell kobe and Gasol just sweeping almost everyone and blowing them out. And for dwight he's 20 20 beast in a era where its hard for Big man to be physical.

what?? Shaq is a top 10 player of all time. Prime McGrady was definitely on par with kobe. GTFO man.....
How can you say Dwight > Shaq?? thats pretty darned ridiculous.

I hope the people that said Dwight > Shaq didn't read the OP and think they are talking about right now. Because frankly, its not even close.

I'd take Dwight right now over prime Mcgrady. And we have no clue how good prime Dwight is going to be. Obviously prime Shaq is better than Dwight right now, he is only 22. Kobe is a much better all around player than Mcgrady. And factor in the injury situation I would be inclined to take Dwight and Kobe because I feel Dwight's career is going to be extremely better than Mcgrady's and even comparable or better than Shaqs. Kobe is already comparable to Shaq but Shaq still has the edge over kobe at the moment.

Saying Dwight > prime Shaq is borderline (Please Use More Appropriate Word).

well that's a lot more reasonable than just saying Dwight >>>>> Shaq.

22 yr old Shaq > 22 yr old Dwight
I'd take Shaq and TMac.

I don't think so. Shaq scored more, more assists, less turnovers, higher win shares, much higher PER. Shaq also went to the NBA Finals that year.
Edit: Led the league in scoring, 2nd in MVP voting

Shaq would have more fun playing with McGrady relative to Kobe or Wade; McGrady would play to Shaq whereas Kobe and Wade never played in optimal consonance with Shaq (even though they won titles together, which tells you how much better those partnerships might've been ...)

Prime T-Mac was as good as prime Kobe, but only for one year.
Prime Shaq would destroy prime Howard, and I know how good Howard is.

Bingo.
I just don't know what Howard's prime could end up being.
